Overview
SOUTH FACING SITE – 1300’ VERTICAL RIDGE & THERMAL SITE – Advanced H2/H3 Site
Being well west of the SLC and Toole weather influence, in the desert makes this a good site for when the rest of them are going to OD. The reason is that it is located at the North end of the very dry Skull Valley. It can get real strong and rowdy, hence the Advanced H2/3 rating.
Directions
Go about 52 miles west on I-80 from Salt Lake City. Take the Delle exit (Exit # 70), turn right and immediately left. Reset your odometer to zero. Proceed west on the frontage road. Beware of potholes! After the railroad crossing, the road veers towards the northeast. Proceed towards the antennas on top of the mountain. At about the 5.8-mile point, just past the fenced experimental area you will find the LZ. I have planted a “T” post in the center of it to mount your windsock or flag (Highly recommended). Continue up the mountain towards the radar and antennas. You will find the launch on the left at approximately the 8.9-mile point.
