The LMFP primary aerotow release is designed in a similar manner to other brands of mechanical releases. A Wichard quick release shackle, used in sailing, is secured to the tow attachemnt point on the glider's keel, near the apex. The release gate is opened by a steel cable, which passes through a rubber tube that is routed along the downtubes, and secured vi a bracket to the basetube. The LMFP release is actuated by a fabric loop that can be pulled by the pilot while both hands are still on the basetube.
