This hill is used for training students how to make turns and setup approaches prior to their first mountain flight.
This site has been used on and off since the 1970s. It got it's name from the farmers Bee Hives that used to be located at the top of the hill.
This hill is a knob along the ridge that defines the north side of the Roundout river valley. Only about one day in ten has winds in the right direction. However when the wind is from the south, thermals tend to wick up this hill. A few paragliders pilots, and one hang glider pilot have climbed out and gone cross country.
This site is only open to students and instructors for Mountain Wings. This is private property and trespassers will be prosecuted.
