Location: 27 miles north of Reno. Drive north on Hwy 395 to Red Rock Rd exit. Turn right onto Red Rock Rd and drive north approximately 16 miles to Dry Valley RD. Turn right onto Dry Valley Rd and follow road north 4 ½ miles. After the road crosses Dixie LN and begins to go uphill look for the first left turn going up the ridge. Turn left there and drive west 2 miles to the launch.

Launch Direction: South

Seasons: All year.

Launch Elevation: 5,950’

LZ Elevation: 4,760’

Pilot Rating: Intermediate (H 3) and Advanced (H 4).

Type of Launch: Sloping with loose dirt, rocks, and sage brush.

LZ Location: Next to Dry Valley Rd, ¼ mile south of Dixie LN. It’s a long 7.5:1 glide to the LZ. There are several possible bail out LZ's, but they haven't been investigated, yet.

Type Landing: Small flat dirt field surrounded by sage brush on all sides and a fence along the south side.

Setup Area: Sloping dirt, rocks, and sagebrush above the launch.

Site Protocol: Don’t do anything to disturb the homeowners in the area. We have not talked to any of the land owners in the area, yet, so the only LZ we have is the one designated at the coordinates listed below.

Launch Access: Rough, rocky dirt road with a 10 - 15 minute turnaround. 4WD or rugged 2WD with good clearance.

Miscellaneous: This is a brand new site. Ridge and thermal soaring with XC potential. Keep an eye on the conditions. Winds can become strong very quickly in the afternoon. Watch out for dust devils on launch and in the valley. There is a lot of tall sage brush in the fields below the ridge. Be careful if you have to land out in any of those fields.
