I am trying to renew my gear, I came across a 2007 Aeros Myth 2 harness,
Anyone familiar with it have an opinion? pros? cons?
many thanks. |

I got one a few months ago. Seems streamlined but I didn't like the way it worked.
I modified the butt lever, which didn't work for me, to a line and cleat like the Z5.
The foot peddle didn't work for me either. I put a toe loop on it so I can put my toes in it and push the slider back with my heals. Once I got the length of the line right and the shoulder straps right it is working well.
The T on the leg loops also was very uncomfortable. May work if you are a girl but didn't work for me. I added a waist belt and changed it to single leg loops.
I had a Master Rigger make a longer suspension line to match the WW length but it is 6" too short so I need him to resew it. We went with 2 loops instead of the stock 1 loop so we should be able to cut the stitching and resew it without new webbing and have 1 + loop.
All this was before I flew in it. I have now flown with it for 4-5 hours and it is feeling like it will work. A few more mods and adjustments and it should be as comfortable as my Z5 but slicker. Landing feels weird if you don't adjust the angle before you land. This may change with more adjustment.
2 of my friends fly T2's and I am on a U2 so my thought was to streamline the harness to keep up with them until I get a new T2. We will see if it works this summer. |

Thanks Bill,
Leg loops crashing my "nuts" does not appeal to me - I must say. |

I've got a Myth 1, before that I had a Woody Valley Cosmic. The Myth seems to get more upright for landing, I suspect because of the metal slider for the hang strap, where the Cosmic only has a rope/pulley thing. The Cosmic has a bit of a reputation for being had to get upright in.
I prefer the composite backplate in the Cosmic though. The Myth 1 (don't know if the Myth 2 was different) has a backplate structure made of interlocking aluminium tubes, riveted here and there. I've got no evidence to suggest it's inferior but I can't see the ally backplate doing so well in a shock load (sudden parachute deployment from high speed). |

For harnesses though I'd suggest getting one new and made to measure. I've had two harnesses 2nd hand, both have been the wrong size and uncomfortable (I can't fly for more than about 1 1/2 hours before my arms and back are aching). A comfortable harness would be well worth a few hundered extra dollars IMHO.
For race pods I like the design on the Tenax 3, and the Wills Wing Covert. The Covert is expensive though! I've just put in an order for a Wills Flylite 3, the pods are too heavy for me (plus I wanna loop!) |
