Neilsen Media Research (the TV ratings people) called me tonight, and asked if I'd take part in a survey. I did, and one of the questions they asked was if I owned or leased a private aircraft. Naturally I said YES. Did I lie? |

It is a craft which flies through the air. It is about as private as it can be. I assume it is not a tandem. _________________ I will never be skilled or experienced enough at this activity that I can't get killed doing it. |

here in Canada, a hang glider is classified as an "aircraft", and referred to as such in Transport Canada documentation. You own yours, hence it is privately owned.
Regardless, you did not lie, as far as I can tell one generally uses an aircraft to fly (rocket boots notwithstanding ) |

The next thing I write will be true. The last thing I wrote was a lie.

More easily said as:
This statement is false.

Ah, a recursive paradox!
Better known to electronic circuit folks as a ring oscillator
or...
The next statement is false. The next statement is false. The first statement is false.
Just start with the assumption that the first statement is true, and follow the logic around. Each statement alternates between true and false. fun! |

There is an art, it says, or rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. … Clearly, it is this second part, the missing, which presents the difficulties. ~~~Douglas Adams

Liar, Liar, Pants On Fire!
Since they are defined and "regulated" by the FAA, one has to believe they are indeed aircraft. _________________ Airborne Climax 14 (C1)

Wadaya mean private? You're hanging out there exposed for the whole world to see. What's so private about that? Maybe that's why the pod harness was really invented? I thought I've seen some pretty fake looking arms and hands protruding from pods on HGs whose pilots were smiling just a little too much. |

a local pilot had a bunch of paragliding stuff stolen out of her garage, and her homeowner's didn't cover it because they considered it "aviation equipment"... and that's PARAGLIDING stuff...
so yea, I say by those standards hang gliders definitely qualify... _________________ Ryan Voight

Free flying? The FAA regulates "unpowered ultralights". According to those regs the only right of way that must be legally afforded us is over "powered ultralights" this reg also dictates that if you've been in the whispy's YOUR BUSTED.....I'll take the reds maaaan _________________ Dreams are lies, It's the dreaming that's real...
