Here is a brand new state of the art Eagle Cloud made by Barrie Howie in Invermere British Columbia Canada
This beauty had the latest in deflexors and Truncated wing tips
Plus sail battens.
This glider took second place in the 1976 world championships by Dean Kupchanko from Invermere
Brand new price for me was $1,000.dollars straight from the factory.
Yep, we had hang glider manufacturers in Canada back then.
I had even flown a standard glider my buddy had made back then.
He claimed that it had a 5:1 glide ratio

I really like seeing these "missing link" pictures. It's interesting seeing the evolution of gliders from basically a tarp on sticks, to a modern wing.

Xerxes,
Here is my personal "evolution". The Albatross Sail Glider (ASG-21C) is a better version of the Eagle Cloud (both being truncated-tip gliders). Hey, if the wingtips don't fly, chop them off and build in some fixed-tip dive recovery there, right? Nothing, before or since, has ever lifted you as hard in a thermal as the ASGs.

Once, they let the flexwings of the day compete against the Fledglings at the USHGA Regionals; the results were called "Massacre by Fledgling".
Cheers,
Red

Wow, nothing has changed up there at all, save for the equipment and less facial hair!
I've sat on that rock at lower launch, the one beside the dude in the Seagull, watching conditions, preparing to fly, so many times....

| Any idea what ever happened to the guys at the shop there in Invermere? Dean Kupchenko, Barrie Howie and JohnDuthie. I spent a rainy Aug 75 in that area. John had recently set some new XC record. A whopping 19 miles or something like that when a gust front caught him off guard and sent him south from Mt Swansea. Nancy Green's (skier) brother Ken was killed at Swansea not too many days after that as well. Wild times.
