well i got a spectrum 165 and harness the other day and took it out to a pratice hill the wind was 14 mph when i got there and set it up and since im barly learning now i made a few runs with me not even hooked in and the glide just floats in your hands. so after that i hooked in and all of the sudden the wind went up to 30+mph of wind let me tell you i learned gound handeling really fast.
got that thing spun around with my helper and broken down in a hurry. learned to repect the wind really fast the forcast call for wind to drop but it didnt.
Im sitting down for a second and the kid in the pic is the helper
PS really need to go to Lookout mountain to be trained properly but tell then i plan to learn as much as possible on my own.

Hey Wagner...congrats on getting geared up! You're way ahead of the game already. I know from another post that you're working with a pilot friend, which is great. Please be careful though, bro. There are pitfalls that you cannot even imagine right now that willl wipe you out quick. You're in So. Dakota? I'm sure there are instructors somewhere in that region. Even if it's just one day of lessons, try to set it up. Since you know ground handling and control movements already, you should get a lot out of it. Being independent minded myself, I'm not usually one to advise others on their actions. But I know that with flying you can really get messed up without expert guidance. Even with it you can get burned.
That said....good luck, have fun, and keep posting about your progress!

thanks for the coments and i hear your warnings and im going to lookout in the spring. but i fell this sport is way safer than the free diving i do because in the summer i go spear fishing and often dive to 60 to 80 feet down and thats without a tank so and that has almost killed me 4 times all ready . one was a colvert in 40 feet of water i went into . almost got stuck in a rock speared a big ass fish and couldent pull him up that kind of s***.

Wagner, take what Wilburleft says to heart. As you found out, you can get in over your head very quickly. There is a saying; "there are old pilots and bold pilots. But no old, bold pilots". Don't get too carried away with what you think you can do. Always have your pilot friend around to help you.
Another saying to keep in mind; "It is better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air. Than in the air wishing you were on the ground."
Please be careful in how much you let yourself do.
