Okay, I'll do one too! Here's a picture a couple years old now, of our daughter Jade with our middle dog Pink. We have several. Like Jack's greyhounds, whippets are pretty easy keepers, maybe not as mellow, but very easy and fun to have around.

Thanks! They're smaller than greyhounds, so you can fit more on the bed! We're off to Chelan for the week, and they will get to act like regular HG dogs for a week. Wander around launch, play Frisbee in the LZ, overheat, lay around and pant...

Beautiful dogs. How much do they shed?

They shed... but they have short hair with no 2nd undercoat, low coat density... and are typically naked underneath, so have 1/3 less of their body covered in fur.
So overall, they shed a lot less than say a typical dog like a golden retriever.
My german shepherd would shed a LOT more than all three of my 70lb greyhounds combined.... its not even close.
Hell... throw in my short hair doberman too and it still cant touch a german shepherd

I'll see your five, and raise you four! We have 9. :-) Yeah, and the hair issue is a non issue. Not only that, they don't stink. They don't have a waxy or oily coat, so they stay fresh smelling for sometimes years without baths.

I'm partial to them myself, they're great dogs, but then again, they're not for everyone. I guess most dogs aren't, but they don't have the same personalities as say a Lab, or a Golden. They're a bit more aloof and sensitive at times, but if you don't mind being a bit chill with them instead of too rough and tumble, they're totally fine.

Our dog, Bodie, passed away almost a year ago. I miss him a lot.
Pawchee, pictured upright with my cousin Margaret, and in the next photo with Rauna, has grown out of puppyhood and is a now a full fledged galumph.

Sorry to hear about Banks. We just buried our Spirit yesterday. The worst thing about having dogs is losing them. :-(

Sorry to hear about both dogs. We thought long and hard before we got our little girl, knowing that we won't have her for very long.
But I look into Spirit's eyes in that photo and I can see the trust and the love and I know that we give our friends the best lives they could have had.

Lock a diver in an empty room for an hour with three ball bearings. On your return, one will be lost, one will be broken and one will be stolen. |
