So much debate on helmet selection and brands.

Its not .. but I would never send them money Ryan. I just asked my buddy to pick up one to evaluate on his next trip.

I only ask because they have recently contacted me (via Wings Over Wasatch), and my dad (via Fly High Hang Gliding) completely unsolicited. Their "too good to be true" pricing and photos of many other manufacturer's helmets set off all kind of scam warnings for me...
If they're legit, I'd like to see a helmet too! Since I have a Lubin, one of their Lubin-look-alikes would be an easy comparison.... _________________ Ryan Voight

Just ask the Name Brand where their helmet factory is located.
Since there are not "knock offs" readily available, I would think China is not actually making them. You would have Charlies Instrider and Not Limits all over the place. _________________ Airborne Climax 14 (C1)

Lubin's have a tag that say "made in Czech"
Icaro's say "Made in Italy". Check Icaro's website- it clear states "100% made in Italy" _________________ Ryan Voight

Hey Terry - thanks for the link. That's the helmet I fly with and I need a new visor. Will contact them to see how easy it will be to order and will let you know if they're reputable.
Mine originally came through Mark Knight. Perhaps he can chime in ? |

How do you like it ?
Is it comfortable?
How does it secure ? snap , d ring , clip!!
Do you have pics ? often products are a little different than pictured
Is it true to size?
Does the shell appear to be more protective than say a charlie? |

I hope price should not drive your entire decision process in choosing a helmet for your melon. I believe more so than ever, you get what you pay for. _________________ Always a student.

I like it a lot - it's very comfortable. Of course, I have nothing to compare it with other than motorcycle helmets and that's not a fair comparison. It's light and comfy, and was very easy to wire for speakers and mic. Only downsides are 1). when the visor is up, it makes an annoying whistle-like wind noise at 25-30mph or more and 2). I don't know how good the impact protection actually is. I've never seen comparative "crash-test" results. It does appear to be a quality helmet, but what do I know. I will try to snap a few photos to upload.
I asked Mark Knight about it. He said he got it from Greg Berger ( an instructor up near Prescott ) and he hasn't heard of any issues with them. As I have admitted, I know very little, but I can tell you that I am very pleased with it. $80 is pretty inexpensive but that doesn't necessarily translate to cheap or inferior. (IMHO). |

Damn $80? Looks pretty nice.
Is it en966 certified?
How about visor selection?
Thanks

You mean it LOOKS like the helmet you fly with. I doubt this is where Mark ordered your helmet from _________________ Ryan Voight

blindrodie: don't know if it's certified. emailed the company about replacement visors and if they have clear, but haven't heard back yet.
Ryan: said what I meant - this IS the helmet I fly with. Talked to Mark this morning and he confirmed it. He too has recently been contacted by Connie Guan from Azul, but he got this one from Greg (as I said earlier).
and thanks hangster for posting pics. |

But do we know if Greg Berger got it from Azul is what I was getting at.
Azul has a helmet that looks exactly like mine, too... doesn't mean what they're selling is what I've got, or that they made my helmet... so far, it's just a bunch of photos on a web site. Charly, Icaro, Lubin.... who knows who else's helmets are on the Azul site.
Until someone literally buys a helmet FROM AZUL, we just won't know.... _________________ Ryan Voight
