Woot ! Had my best flight ever yesterday ! I launched around 1:30 expecting to get in a short flight and come back up and setup and wait for ridge soaring later in the day. I timed the cycles and launched into the early part of an up cycle, crossed Burkhalter Gap and got up on ridge lift in front of the radio tower. Turned back down the ridge and hooked a nice fat thermal down by Judy Hildebrand s house. I have almost no thermal experience so this was a first for me. Spent the next 45 mins as the highest glider in the sky ... Sunk out twice and managed to thermal back up above the ridge. The second was a classic low save, I was about 500 feet off the LZ and had already unzipped and pulled on speed to go land when my vario went crazy. It was an awesome climb back to a couple of thousand over launch. ALL the people on the ramp who cheered when I climbed back over, THANK YOU, it made my day ... Wow what an awesome sport !!! _________________ Jaime Perry

I've got to believe that the Sport 2 155 deserves most of the credit. I didn't do anything differently in the thermals and it climbed so nice and easy ... _________________ Jaime Perry

I didn't have the guts to mess with Heckman ... Thought about telling him how nice that see through wing on his new T2C looked from about 1000' over him ! I figured I got lucky this time better not push my luck. In the interest of full disclosure he did climb up past me but it took long enough to put a smile on my face !!!

Congrats! I know exactly how you feel - I also had my best flight yesterday as well. And did so on the same glider.
What a sport! I was up there thinking "this is SO awesome".

Yeah, I don't think I'd want to one up Heckman, considering he's really pretty gracious about being able to climb through just about anyone. |

Those Magic flights are why we put in so many hours on the T- hill, drive so far, wait so long for good weather, and all the other sacrifices we make.
It's all worth it when it all comes together.
Stick it out and be safe so you can make it happen lots more.

That's awesome! I can totally relate! I just bought a sport 2 about 3 months ago, and I am still transitioning to it.. meaning I dont let myself chase low saves, and as I drift further from the LZ I still am not quite sure how far I can let it go, not to mention landing in an LZ with thermals popping off all over! But I started aerotowing recently, giving myself much better chance of finding lift.. and I keep smiling as I say to myself......soon...soon it will all click together on that perfect day, and I will have MY best flight ever!
Congratulations!

I am smiling for you. It changes your whole perspective on life and everything in it.
You do realise that you are now hopelessly addicted.....
Fly safe and enjoy every second, it takes a lot of persistence and patience to get to do what you did.
Welcome to the family...... |

The sport 2 155 is a sweet flying glider ... Had another great thermal climb yesterday to almost 5000 MSL. Love the new wing !!!
Had an hour ridge soaring flight on Saturday but it just doesn't compare to thermal soaring ... So much more fun to climb out in a thermal !!!
