Hi guys
I'm shopping around and doing some research on gliders and my question to you is, can a WW F1/2 be moded or updated with F3 features such as a nose cone or anything else to add performance?
I also heard that some advanced guys prefer the WW F1/2 over the F3 because it aerotows better, glides better etc... How do you guys feel about this?
As always thank you, your knowledge is appreciated |

Negative. Changes were incremental, but each one is an entirely different glider.

The 3 glides better than the 2, which glides better than the 1. The 4 is better than them all (and I hear it tows much easier than the 3). _________________ Ryan Voight

I've flown Falcon 1s, 2s, and 3s. They're all great. The handling has felt about the same on all of them--move your eyeballs in the direction you want to go, and the glider turns. Performance has gotten better with each generation, but there's PLENTY of fun to be had on a 1 if you can find one in decent condition. I've only ever aerotowed a 1; it was incredibly easy. It's all a matter of what's available at what price. _________________ Saturn 147, Predator 142 |

Sure. You can gain performance by making mods to the pilot's skills and experience. _________________ Mountains always have the right of way.

I wanted to get a new sail for my Falcon 1 225 (which I've since sold). The sail was OK but I was thinking of a new custom sail. I inquired at WW about getting a new sail and was told that they only make sails for current production models. So, if you wanted to at least get a new sail for a F1/2 - WW won't do that. I believe their policy on this is primarily due to making so many new gliders they just don't have the time to be making sails for older designs. _________________ U2 160 • Chattaroy, WA - USA |

You could probably add a nose cone if you wanted. I doubt it would do any harm. Probably wouldn't do a lot of good, either. _________________ H4 + various skills (only foot-launch so far)

Adding a nose cone is easy if you have sewing skillz. Filling the hole around the kingpost with a neoprene "grommet" is also beneficial, but the advantages are pretty small...
Add attack DT's and a clean harness and together it adds up to maybe a point on glide. It'd trivial pursuit but I like trivia!

It'll help keep the dirt and vegetation out of the nose plate area when you whack . _________________ Mountains always have the right of way.
