Lots of interesting scenery explored over a large area near Crestline. The plan was to fly East to Galena Peak and fly back to AJX LZ but the cumulus development East formed an anvil so I headed West until it drifted away then headed East again but changed the task to a circuit.
Enjoy,
Jonathan

I was going to add voice-over to this one but thought I'd try posting it without. I was hoping the images told enough story without words. You tell me.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Thanks for the ride NME. I especially liked the views of the highways and traffic below, shows a nice perspective of your altitude (AGL) I'm guessing around 1K over the half clover leaf or highway circle/ramp shown at the start? (10 second mark)

Hi Jonothan, I haven't been around for a while so this is the first vid of yours I've seen in a while.

Really enjoyed it so thankyou! I really liked the progressive gps tracking edited into the vid at certain intervals. Helped give me a better idea of your travel distance etc.

Thanks mate! So far no complaints about the lack of my soothing narrative vocals. Laughing

What I didn't say was just how big that cumi off in the distance was. I reckon about 45 miles long and the bugger formed an anvil as I got closer, thus quelling my initial desire to proceed any further Eastward. ahh So I did a 17-mile trek West and hit the end of the workable lift, looked back and saw the cumi had backed off a bit and drifted North out of harm's way. So I made another trek East and in spite of there being enough lift to hit my original turn-point, 34 miles East of launch I needed to get home on time and stayed within working distance of the LZ. My last position by that big dam was a 22:1 glide required to reach the LZ. That translates into a minimum or 5 climbs in these conditions. Now I want to go fly!
Cheers, Jono

^ yes I want to go fly now too hahaa! And narrative is also very enjoyable for me as am still noob to the sport and 1 step behind being a noob to XC :p At this stage I am a very dry spunge with a keen interest so will take narration over even the very best music clips.

But perhaps worth hearing feed back from viewers who are also experienced pilots regarding the question of to narrative.

Cheers bud.

Excellent video. I liked all the different angles. Reminds me of the monster T storms we're constantly evading during the monsoon season here in Colorado. They're quite treacherous as I've seen them move in completely unpredictable ways. I also like the part where you're corkscrewing up in a thermal, and you're dangling free handed. Anyways, it looks like you got the endurance game figured out.

I'm quite envious of your control bar brackets to mount your pod and your camera. Mine isn't stiff enough and I have to tuck it under one of the nose wires so it holds the pod up. Any info on how to make or buy them would be greatly appreciated.

Here's how I rigged the camera boom: http://imageevent.com/aero92/camboom
The pod mounting is similar. I'll have to upload those pix too.
I'd have flown another hour and re-tagged that amphitheater waypoint but I was toast by the time I landed at 4:19hrs. I do a lot of landing posture practice while I thermal and it really helps make landings a breeze when I come in all exhausted. It also gives my back and neck a nice rest as well as cools my legs. Glad you enjoyed it.

On another note, the deputy director who oversees the dam I fly over informed me that tours are available. I would really like to walk around on that massive structure and compare the view between on it and over it. .

Thanks! I wasn't sure it would work to leave out all narration and captions and just leave the ambient expereince.
