I've been looking for a new harness and The GT Race 2 from Lookout Mountain seemed interesting, but they only have one picture of it on their site and really don't go into any details about it. Does anybody have one? Any reviews or pictures?

I was told that it derives most of it's design from the Tennax, but that was just a bit of talk among friends.

There is an art, it says, or rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. … Clearly, it is this second part, the missing, which presents the difficulties. ~~~Douglas Adams

There is a local pilot that has one and from what I have heard, they have not been happy with the functionality or the quality. I believe the last time I flew with them, they were complaining about the stitching coming apart in a couple locations. They are now looking to get rid of it and make another purchase. This is just one pilots experience though, so I wouldn't make a decision based just on this feedback.

I called to talk to them about the Tenax and they were pushing their harness. Getting a Covert.

I currently have a LMFP GT harness that I bought second hand as my first harness, and I have no complaints about the quality of the workmanship.

I sold an older GT Race to a newer pilot and he has been very happy with it. He did take it to LMFP after the sale and got the "once-over" on it...

Cool

Thanks for the info, I have been looking at getting a new single suspension for a while and was curious about the GT. I think for the price the Tenax seems like the best choice (or the Rotor)— the Matrix is by far my favorite but it is extremely out of my budget. Another I've been considering is the CG 1000. Thanks again.

IMHO the "best" harness is the CG1000. I like how intuitive the dangle angle adjustment is... put feet in boot, go head down, take feet out, go head up...no extra buttons to push/pull..with either you butt or hands..you cant beat that! I guess you are pushing a button with your feet...but you were going to do that anyway..so thats why it feels so intuitive.

I've got a GT Race2 ..... I don't have any time to do a good write up on it, but here are a few of my key thoughts:

I originaly had a problem getting "head down" in the harness. I thought for a while that it was just my technique or that my CofG was just to much in my feet. My harness was one of the earlier harnesses made so they switched out the slider and the rope and it made a big difference.

If I were going to have a "negative" it would be that the slider mechanism is so simple (which keeps the cost down) that it doesn't allow you to "lock in" a desired dangle angle or make small adjustments. Its almost like you can either get really heads up or kick and get heads down but not really easy to find something in between. Although I will say that I've only had a hand full of flights in the harness since changing out the slider and rope so I am begginning to learn easier ways to do this each time I fly.

I like everything else about my harness. My tow lines zip up into a pocket on the shoulders. Replaceable front velcro zippers (which means you can give yourself about 1 to 2 inches of adjustment for extra clothes in the winter.) I have enough room for all of my bags and a camelback in the main harness, radio and what nots on my left and parachute on my right. I've had a 4 hour flight with no major discomfort (my toes were hurting, but thats because I wore sandals.) It looks good and the price is right.

The BIGGEST REASON TO BUY THIS HARNESS: Its designed to get you upright and it super easy to land!!!! When I moved from my first harness to this one I could tell very little difference in my body position when I was heads up for landing.

For a $1500 harness, I don't think you can go wrong.

Let me know if you have other specific questions and I'll do my best to get back around to answering them.

Brandon

Hey Bradon thanks for the feedback on the harness, I guess my only other question would be whether you have any pictures of it since Lookout doesn't do a good job of describing the harness at all, only one lousy picture and no mention of features or any details. Thanks again.
