Things are fine. Weather has been changing every few hours. Lots of people flying, several multiple flights a day.
Some flying tracks have been posted to coloradoflyweek.com for the competition, but few people have logged in to that so far. Just flying.
Rick from Ellenville sunk out Sunday but that was to make up for an amazing four hour flight on Saturday (best to let him describe it).
I heard that Scott (not sure where from) flew down to Taos on Saturday, about 140 miles.
Just get there and be ready on launch for when the right window comes. I don't think people will be posting much as they are busy being there (except for some of us who didn't get the whole week off) _________________ jj

That would be Scott Huber who flew to NM. I also heard Kurt ?? (of King Mtn fame) did about 65 miles to the south and my flying buddy, Mark "the Gardinator" Gardner, got stinkin' high and flew 25 - 30 miles north landing north of Salida. They also had a pilot crash shortly after launching on Saturday and although he was carried out on a stretcher, his injuries weren't serious.

Hey JR wish you were here this year. Tried to wire Scott off today but it blew up just as he entered the slot. Nice guy and go-for-it pilot. Same for Kurt and Dave Hopkins. No XC rides today. _________________ http://hangdiver.blogspot.com/ |

Wish I was there, too, Rich! Maybe if you guys do it again next year, I'll try to make an appearance. I would really like to fly Villa Grove sometime!

Villa is being bashful. Normally conditions are a little stronger and with good timing many people get to enjoy a big glass off together. So far it has been LnV with the occasional 40 mph gust front, which has really separated the flying out. The average pilot gets a nice exteneded sledder, or perhaps an hour or so in beautiful conditions. The PGs get multiple early morning flights due to the lighter winds, and the really good pilots hook up for 60 to 130 mile flights in opposite directions.
I mean, fly, watch, learn, head back up for a potential second or third flight, rinse, repeat. It is out there as shown multiple times already. But you need to be on launch to get it.
Oh, and of course a massively laid back fun place to land, chill, get some food, drink or just get ready for the next morning of getting up to launch.
JR, Just get here either now or whenever. This event is great, but head to VG just about any time and you will find people going to launch. _________________ jj
