Campers,
Daylight meteors are very rare birds. Never heard of planes being grounded for meteors.
Probably some UFO forgot to get clearance from NORAD.
Earth intercepts dozens of meteor showers, each and every year. Midnight 'til dawn will be the best of the show, usually.
Next up, not the best, will be the Draconids shower, June 30.

You gotta ground the planes in a situation like that. The meteor may still be zoomin' around up there! _________________ H4 + various skills (only foot-launch so far)

So no ones gonna point out that a "meteorite" is an object that has already fallen from the sky? They would need to get the plane in the air to avoid tire damage. |

...and once again the sad state of science education in the U.S. is exposed. _________________ "We are all atheists about most of the gods that societies have ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further."

I read a great descriptions of meteors in a book today. I didn't buy the book, but from what I remember, the former president of Yale, a meteor expert, pointed out that meteors are on elliptical orbits around the earth that varies typically brings them withing 20 or 30 miles, but sometimes to within a half mile, and then rubbing against the atmosphere causes them to accumulate a lot of electrical fire. When they have enough, they discharge it with a sound like a cannon. (It was a pretty old book...) _________________ H4 + various skills (only foot-launch so far)
