Just wanted to give an FYI. This weekend McClure had some visitors. I was in contact with one of the pilots prior to them coming out. I was out of town for my sons birthday and was not avail. to accommodate anyone to get up the hill. Somehow there was a misunderstanding that I was going to be there to host the pilots visiting. There was the H-3 and his friends who were all H-2's. I apologize if there was a miscommunication, however we have rules to abide by and especially during summer months. Here are the rules.
If you are an H-2 and want to fly McClure. You must have a radio.
You need to be with a local site officer, your instructor, or an H-4 or certified observer willing to sponsor you.
You are going to need a club member with a key to get you up to launch.
You cannot launch mid-day.
Bring your USHPA card.
Sign a waiver.
Pay your day use fee at the ranger station.
You better have walked that L.Z. and all other L.Z. options.
Bring cold beer.
Last weekend we had triple digit temps,North winds, and expect conditions to be turbulent and a very active L.Z.. Don't try to land between 2-4p.m. Please bring your A game to McClure (as you should always) especially during the summer months or that L.Z. WILL eat your lunch... Not saying stay away, just saying McClure can be quite a handful for a young H-2. If you show up, and don't see any locals around, well there probably is a reason for that. And I personally feel that during the summer months, McClure can easily be an H-4 site. Understand, we want you to have fun, we want you to come back, we want to preserve the site and those rules are in place for that specific reason. Yes McClure is a great place for H-2's and we encourage that, but there is a time of year where it's not so nice. As always, we thank you for your support and understanding with this. Thanks guys and gals.- glendeco. _________________ Always a student.
