#1 |
An Austrian based hang glider company is soon releasing a new model. The Skyrunner.
I've received a handful of photos. More info on the glider once I get them. But I thought other pilots might be interested in hearing about new products.
It's a high aspect ratio kingposted glider.

It looks like Seedwings Europe's answer to the Bautek "Fizz"

Sweet looking wing. Kind of U2ish in appearance. Tight sail and nice lines to it.

I like the curves at the front of the sprog zippers. I'll bet that makes for a clean package when rolling the sail up.
Will the version with less double-surface be called the SkyWalker? ;)

| I did not notice any luff lines - am I missing them? Very clean at the hang point (slots cut out for the hang strap). What customer base are they targeting?

pretty wing
I'd be interested to know where the performance/handling balance sits, say relative to the U2/Litesport/Spyder/Crossover. Have there been any specs leaked? I guess it's early days yet
It's definitely a wing I'll be looking out for

The current Seedwings Europe lineup is Funky, Space, Crossover and Spyder.
The new Skyrunner is in an even higher class than the Spyder.
The only specs that I know of yet is that compared to the Spyder the Skyrunner has an even higher aspect ratio and bigger wing tip area.
It's only going to be available in one size. 14.2 squaremeters. It's not going to get a complete DHV certification. It's currently aimed at Switzlerland, Italy and France.
I am going to get complete details soon (as needed for me to update the Seedwings homepage). But to me it seems it's not an entirely new glider. More like a refined Spyder tuned for even more performance.
The two gliders with the black A-frame have anodized Aeros Combat uprights and aluminum basebar. The glider with the Wills Wing A-frame is going to Italy. (At least it looks like a Wills Wing A-frame)
It's probably available with the standard Finsterwalder A-frame seen on all other Seedwings Europe gliders.

Is there such thing as a partial certification? ...or is that marketing spin for "uncertified"?

quoting my former flight instructor, who has close contact to seedwings:
"Better glide than the spyder with equal start and landing characteristics, with VG on turns into a 'sensitive bullet' "
sound nice...

It looks an awful lot like a Seedwings Inc. 710 145 wannabe to me.
Soren, you are an nincompoop, I thought I remembered reading you were building Seedwings Flugsport GmbH's website but I wasn't sure after you deleted all of your posts a while back (BTW, it's perfect!).

It's funny that they went through the effort of actually acquiring my 710 (I'm sure enough it was mine to post this) to somewhat duplicate it instead of having enough understanding that photos online could be fairly easily used.
Even funnier knowing that Seedwings Europe thinks they're being sneaky about it.

I like flying my 610 CF with the new air foil but wish I still had my 710.
Any chance Seedwings Europe would ship it back to me?

You're not an idiot Soren. I hope you get to meet Robert Trampenau someday, you'll have fun.
But, if you see him near a flying area don't just ask to throw your glider on his car, it's kinda rude because he rarely goes to launch exclusively for fun, most of the time he's tuning and test flying. Basically, the more he is able to focus test flying the better off we all are.
