I had never been to Crestline before last week. It got hot here in Mesa AZ so I drove over and flew 2 days. The first had more wind but neither day could we get much over launch due to the inversion, so I stuck around Crestline and Marshall rather than XC'ing, but sure enjoyed a 3.5 hour flight the first day, then landed early with 2.5 hours the second day to be sure my wing camera battery was still up to catch the landing. What an awesome place to fly! Thanks to nmerider for giving me some advice and waypoints prior to the trip. I can see why Jonathan enjoys that place so much. He has a thousand great videos of his XC exploits from there, but thought I'd put a video up that is an intro type video to flying Crestline and Marshall and landing at Andy Jackson. So if you haven't been there hopefully this will give an idea of what to look forward to!

Man, great video! I'd say mission accomplished. I've watched so many flight videos taken from these sites, but never was able to put all the pieces together geographically until now.

Looks like a great place to fly!

Thanks Diev.

Hey PJ I hear you on the geography part... it helps to get it on a map and then see how it's laid out from the air. What a great place.

Greg, I thought you did an excellent job of showing what everything looked like and where it is from multiple vantage points. More videos would benefit from this technique and clubs around the globe could easily produce similar videos as site intros to new members and visiting pilots. Funny, how it was a visiting pilot who produced a great site intro to Crestline. Designbydave produced a detailed intro video several years ago.

I'd let him post a link here himself but he no longer comes around since he regards the rest of us on the Org as beneath him. Razz Laughing

Thx Jonathan. I agree an intro video for every site would be great. Ya'll are welcome to post a link to the video on the CSS site if you think it might help. Seems it would save a lot of repetitive explaining to every new pilot that showed up. The next video I hope is all about a great XC from there... thumbsup

Next time we'll fly together on radio and I'll give you the guided tour. Be sure to wear a fresh Depend® Real Fit for Men brief under your drawers. My videos and track logs don't do it justice. Laughing Laughing

Jonathan that sounds awesome... The T2C should be in the hangar by the end of the month, then only my inexperience will slow you down. Looking forward to having a story to tell - those are the best flights! Shocked Razz

Thx Bob. Hey I like your Avatar. I work for Boeing Rotorcraft and spend some time on travel to Philadelphia, where we make the Osprey fuselage. Amazing ship, that one.

but I have read that the ship is high maintenance. however, it can do things that no heilo can do, but it has a high cool factor. I looks so freaken bad ass when it flies!

Not sure about how high maintenance, but it's quite a ship. It looks pretty awesome when flying like an airplane... the rotors are so huge!
