Flytec has a new firmware version out (version 3.34) that makes good use of the SD slot on the vario. You can now load airspace data on the SD card and always have restricted airspace data available. Prior to this firmware update you could only load a small area of airspace data. I now have the whole US loaded on mine.

This update can be found on flytec.ch, it's not yet on the flytec.com site.

Use my restricted airspace webste ( http://www.maddyhome.com/ctr ) to grab all of the data for where you might fly this year. Then use Flytec's tool to convert the data and load it on your vario.

Enjoy

Hey Rick,

I downloaded all my airspaces from your site (thank, BTW!)... Now I have a .fas file.

Flytec's OpenAir2faf application seems to only open .txt files?

I also tried the links Davis posted in the Oz... and that worked... but all the floor/ceiling notes for the airspaces were in meters. That 'ain't gonna work for me Rolling Eyes

Please help surrender

Ryan,

Two things;

- I have the same issue
- did you send an email to Kroop?

Thought picking "feet" in the converter would do the trick, but no joy.

Yes, I emailed Kroopster. He passed my message along to Flytec HQ

This is beta firmware after all, so a few bugs are to be expected. It's not THAT hard to figure out a CTR that starts at 3048m = 10,000 ft. But it would be nice to read it in ft...

I think mine worked. Can't remember what I did. I just kept hashing at it and read the how to several times. Think I kept missing something, but seems to be in there now.

to clarify, for all intensive purposes mine worked too.

EXCEPT- the info page is listed in Meters, not Ft/Miles...

First picture shows the airspaces around me, and that Dist to CTR is displaying in Miles. Altitude is displaying in Ft.

Second pictures shows the info page for the 3 nearest CTRs... floors/ceilings and distances are all in Meters...

Where it says Up: 3047m Low: 2743m I would much prefer it read 10,000 ft - 9,000 ft (it's class B airspace and pretty important I stay out, or else I wind up a bug on the windshield of a Delta flight on approach to KSLC Int'l). At least I know the airspaces here... my bigger concern is how useful this will be vs could be when I go visit other sites...

My page looks different. I'm in Airspace SUA (I guess it was misspelled from USA). Anyway, I do see "Warning Distance" in Meters.

That's within the settings.... if you push the i button (bottom right in the 2nd picture) from any of the main pages you get the screen I posted. Sounds like yours is in meters too...

That's the same page I am seeing. Have not found a way to change units, either through instrument settings or in Flychart.

Well, first of all you have to be near a CTR or three.... but still, yours is measuring in Km Wink
