My favorite line from the website:

Wired is crap...
They thought this was real....
and a couple years back they thought DDWFTTW was fake
Many of their employees should be fired, including the one who hired their writers. _________________ H4, Litespeed 4 w/ Mylar sail.

| Looking at the video and reading the reponses it seems to me that a lot of people (Wiired readers ?) believe that you can do anything through software and some gadget regardlesss of the physics involved. I guess after a while you may believe that virtual reality is the real thing. |

It is a good fake that would fool MOST people in my opinion.
Me and a buddy of mine took a critical look at the video. Were both aerospace engineers. Normally I don't roll that out but I do have scientific training and it is my profession. He and I agree that it's a damn good fake!
Most of the technical problems with the "truth" of the video are pretty nit-picky. 1) No pitch stability mechanism. 2)inadequate power. 3) obvious..no sail loading 4) no pitch control mechanism 4) no obvious roll control mechanism
OK...on the aviation front: 1) No one would fly there...too many trees.
The big tell is the video>>>> Obviously the video to intended to conceal the truth and not expose the accomplishment. Why not better/more video? Why is the production/cutting so shitty? Why not more than once? You guessed it - because it's fake.
The education problem is a lack of training in critical thinking.
Of course it is a fake and has been proven:
