Good afternoon all!!!

First post here and I'm so excited. I just talked to my instructor for the first time and I'm set to begin my adventures on the 9th of March.

I'm looking forward to this.

I'll wager it's some guy who has a hard time keeping his glider right side up.

John should be able to provide video of your training.

If Yoda can't stay right-side-up, you mean...

That's great! I started with John last August and got my H2 with him a few months ago. John will run the life out of you, but he is a great person to learn from. There's a small group of recent Heiney H2 grads you're welcome to join up with once you're up to speed. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions for someone who's been through his training regimen.

All I can say is it's tough and frustrating at first, but so worth the effort!

Welcome to the life changing addiction, Astra.

It will be very frustrating at times when you are working on your H1. I thought about giving up once or twice when I was doing some of my worst landings from the training hill. Just hang in there and the rewards will increase linearly after H1, and exponentially after H2. You are in for the ride of a lifetime...

Thanks all. BTW I'm the "me" part in AstraNme. I guess I need to get around to setting up a cool signature.

Welcome. I'm up the way in Carlsbad.

I look forward to flying with you. At some point, plan a day up in San Berdoo at the big O loop, where you can knock out a dozen flights in a day without having to break down.

I love the energy John's students are bringing lately.

We are not really students, we are more like padawan learners. I mean how many instructors out there take the time on a Saturday to weld you a new glider rack or takes your kids tandem, or will sit and study birds with you on a hill top when there is no flying going on?

Astra you were looking great out there the other day, and moving over to the new site means you are one step closer to making that big mountain flight. You will be out soaring with the Spider Woods crew in no time.
