Why not use marine grade polymer either King Starboard or Taco
it cuts/sands like wood but resists the elements very well plus no need to paint
(one drawback it's heavy - but maybe that's good for an HG cart)

| just a random hint. you've probably already taken this into account, but if not, consider making the holes in the cradles oversize and with chamfered edges. this will allow you to "toe-in" the cradles so that wheels should never get into an interference situation with said cradles as the CB moves forward and up on launch. and remember the hoses
