Really old items and too many pictures cause virtual memory shortages
and browser hangups.

Yeah, I've noticed also. Takes a long time to down load the ads and hopefully with out any hang ups.
Might help if the classifieds were dumped occasionally.

Took 10 seconds to load the whole page for me, and 500mb of ram. With 7gb of spare ram, i have no complaints here

a good cleaning would help, if ya no longer have the item for sale get rid of the ad
i've sent pm to people that have an ad in here and have got no reply, that is just uncalled for, it would be polite to respond or atleast pull the ad

| Yeah it's all those pesky Northwing Freedom 190 ads clogging things up. Being the nice guy I am I'll accept those as gifts to free up some cyberspace.

I clean up every now and then.
I leave a year worth of AD's in place.
Maybe cut it to 6 months for you guys with WIMPY computers?

I have used the classifieds myself and it took a bit long to sell the glider.
6 months should be fine, and maybe you could set up the system so the user gets an email every month reminding that the ad is still there, with a link to delete it, or renew it for X months in case he needs more time.

A simple solution would be code the page to have multiple pages instead of one long one.(Like I have any idea how hard it would be to write that)

Yeah I was leaning towards 6 but chose 3. I have had success on leads older then 6 months but most re-submit. I also save emails and items of interest and if they are gone I can followup from my notes...

I was going to pick 3, but went for 4 to give the ad poster the benefit of the doubt. 4 is more than enough. If it isn't sold in 4 mths., time for a new ad, with a new price!
I should also point out, that I have used the ad's to purchase my first harness. Thanks Spark!

SG…I am a hard wear guy; I can rippem apart, put em back together etc. But I’ve got no idea or understanding how a program is actually written. That being said, could you some how add a line of code that would automatically delete adds at 6 months? That might lighten your work load a bit. Just a thought, have no idea if that could be done or if it would be worth the work that it would need to do it…
Thanks for the hard work you do to keep this asylum open even if some times a few of the patients in it don’t always appreciate it.
Andy

That can be done.... I just have to decide if I want to put the time in versus doing it manually once in a while.
