#1 |
Issue 1. now that i am bundled up and wearing ski pants my zipper keeps getting caught . any advice
Issue 2. i keep getting tangled up in the zipper lines when landing ?
i wish there was a better way to route the lines or zip up it seems like i am always fighting Zippers having difficulty zipping and unzipping, i love the fact that when zipped it keeps you warm, but i am always fighting it
am i the only one ? what are some remedies ? _________________ Explore nature from the eyes of an Eagle |

what harness?
Most of my problems have been with the zipping up. I did just recently get my foot stuck in the boot. it kept me from putting my feet down. It never happen b4 and not sure why it happen now.
ME: high energy harness.
As far as putting anything slick on ur zipper to make it easier to pull it may also make it to easy to unzip when u do not want to unzip. Especially near the top of where you want it to closed. the bottom of zipper yes I do put some sort of spray on it.
I have coated my rope cord that runs inside the harness with soap. supposely it makes for a smoother pull operation. whenever i replaced that line i coat it with soap.
The other rope is on the outside and there's not a lot u can do with that one.
It is frustrating having zipper problems. short of going cocoon not sure what else can be done.

In my experience, ski pants or whatever are not particularly needed for cold-weather flying. The most important thing to keep warm is your hands, then arms, then probably face, and legs really don't come into the equation at all, because they're all nice and snug in the pod. Long underwear and lined jeans should be more than plenty. _________________ H4 + various skills (only foot-launch so far)

Cal,
Andy Long puts what looks like Velcro tie wraps around his pant legs just above the ankles. ( I think he flies with a Matrix harness ) You
can see them on most of his videos right at takeoff. It looks like he wraps the pants and then straps or tapes them tight to his leg. I am sure
this is for the zipper _________________ First Flight 1979 H4 , Cirrus 3, UP Mosquito, Delta Wing Streak, Moyes XS, Exxtacy 160, Rotor Vulto, MILLENNIUM #8

I also wear Velcro ties at the cuff of each leg of my jeans for both my cocoon and my Covert. It keep my pant legs from riding up which keeps me warmer in my cocoon and prevents zipper interference in my Covert.
Somewhere I have a video where I had a zipper slider failure on my old Rotor and the slack lines tied my ankles together. I had to do a Houdini act while I was setting up my landing.
Don't use anything that can attract dust and dirt to the zipper teeth. Some waxes stay slightly soft and sticky to dirt. I generally use dry Teflon spray in the zipper teeth and like Carm, I also give the ropes a good coating of Teflon spray as well. |
