WW is in the process of developing a production Cocoon harness. The project is currently still in the prototyping stages... we have not set a release date as of yet. Early spring is likely...
The High Energy cocoons are good, my wife has one. The WW cocoon will be a much more modern take on the cocoon, with a cambered/curved fit. Should be much cleaner, and early protos seem to be more comfortable (I am bias).
If you need one NOW, I'd recommend the High Energy cocoon. If you can wait 'till the Spring, I'd wait (again, I'm bias!) _________________ Ryan Voight

I've got a birthday coming up and I'm thinking about picking up a cocoon harness. Any news on the availability of the WW version?

I'll leak a hint or two...
It's nearing the end of the pre-production phase
The design is pretty much set, and I have taken a few pre-orders for friends to make sure sizing is good (so far all pre-production units have been the same size, as myself and Steve Pearson are nearly the same measurements).
I would expect to hear something pretty soon
Probably talking weeks, not months, at this point
I'm stoked.... _________________ Ryan Voight

That's awesome news Ryan! I will be looking forward to hearing more. I'm psyched! The few leaked photos I've seen look quite sexy.

I'm still making cocoons if you're interested. (Chris Smith-Cloudbase Harnesses) I started making harnesses, when I started hanggliding, 40 year ago, in 1972. I'm wondering if I may have the World's duration record, for the individual who had professionally produced hang gliding harnesses. If you're interested in a cocoon, you can email me:

I saw one of the prototypes in FL and it is indeed a pretty sweet harness. I understand that they will be using child labor for production and will begin taking orders as soon as they learn to sew.
I have not heard anything on pricing yet. Any insight on what these will cost? _________________ Wills Wing U2 160

I suppose by child labor you mean Ryan, right?

You mean Ryan right?
 |
Oh, I don't know about that, I just heard "child labor" would be used for production, and that when they taught them to sew and the quality was up to speed, orders would commence.
Is Ryan learning to sew? If that is the hold up, then we need to get SG to shut him down on the Org until he gets his stitches straight.
I would like to have one as a second harness for certain sites and some of the scorcher days at the flight park.
Whoever is working on this clearly isn't in a hurry though. _________________ Wills Wing U2 160

perhaps he should spend more on flashy advertising and less on quality.................maybe then he could get the noob market share. i am still surprised at all the suppliers out there that are only locally known. |

Oh, you gotta love the internet. Where else can people globally share their complete speculation
| lostgriz wrote: |

Ryan already knew how to sew- has been sewing (small projects) for much of his life. WW did train him on how to assemble cocoons, though

I feel pretty comfortable saying YOU HAVE NO IDEA what is involved in bringing a new, hand-made product like this into global production. I am confident in saying that because *I* had no idea when I embarked on this journey.
I can tell you that we're pretty much done prototyping, and have a design we're really happy with. We've moved on to pre-production, where we're making a a few in various sizes to ensure the pattern is adjusting properly so people get well-fitting harnesses when they order.
Also still streamlining production process (getting faster), and itemizing exactly how much of each type of cloth zipper ribbon and webbing go into each harness. Can't set product pricing without detailed info here, and can't take orders without being able to estimate delivery times.
Considering this is basically my main gig for making money, rest assured no one is more anxious to get this boat in the water. But we will not launch until we've done 3 hang checks and a hook in check too
Just because you don't hear or see anything happening, don't assume nothing's happening. I could assume you never work, since I've never seen you go to work? _________________ Ryan Voight

Ryan, I wonder if you can provide a "catalog description" or brief overview of the harness? What will its particular features be, what sets it apart from competing harnesses, etc? If that's premature, I understand; just curious.
