Thanks, Mark, for your kind words.

Just had dinner with Flip Koestier (former CIVL President) and Dennis Pagen. Very civilized and friendly conversation. Flip was very happy not to be the CIVL President in the midst of this crises.

There was an interesting discussion about whether paraglider pilots really had a clue or not. Smile

Yes, Mark's list is where all the action has been. It is most interesting following the discussion between paraglider pilots. Remember that is what I have been reporting, not some hang glider pilots mad at paraglider pilots.

Hang pilots should just join the PWC and demand a Rigid Paragliding class.

Much discussion about such a move.

Looks like Canada and Poland have been added to the group that now surrounds western Europe. Are we now going to start having jokes about the French (and their friends)?

I know it's a scandal to even say this out loud because it's become un-PC, but I can't help but conclude that in mountain and strong thermal conditions, paragliding is simply more dangerous.Anyway, it's interesting to observe the discussions in the paragliding world about all of this. And I'll add, I appreciate Davis' sifting through all the chaff and giving us the meaty info.

Thanks for the support.

The news is often the bad news. Went to the top of the hill, flew, landed down below. Not really news.

I did start a good news thread, but apparently someone else doesn't want to hear the good news.

About Hang Gliding? HELLO, do you even realize you are on a Hang Gliding Forum and that people can go search for PG info on PG sites?

I'm sorry to see that some hang glider pilots don't see the pertinence of what happens in the paragliding world to the HG community. To me, the attitude is very weird.

For the record, I consider gliding and soaring to be one sport. The differences between one soaring machine and another are really minor compared to the similarities IMHO. Then again, I consider snowboarding and skiing to be one, and kitesurfing and windsurfing the same. Mountain bikes and road bikes etc etc

True, it's not pertinent to discuss stories about PG flying technique, manouvers clinics, or the latest hot PG wing, on a HG site, but really, how is the Red Bull x-alps and the fantastic technology used on their website... or serious accident rates not in our interest?

And how would a HG pilot even know about these cross pollinating subjects if not on a site like the org? You're not going to visit a PG website and wade through all the chaff are you? When I post something here that has PG content, it's not about promoting that craft, but precisely because I think it has broad interest.

Whether we like it or not, what happens in their world affects HG far more deeply than many are willing to admit.

However, this is Jack's site, so whatever he wants...

Just my $.02

Some people want an HG site.. an HG sanctuary. Thats what I want... but I get one vote. Dont want my stalker to show up here and start whining about censorship and whatever else he can cook up. Seems no matter what I do, im in the wrong somehow.

So I used my ONE VOTE TO BURY this thread.

If enough other people have had enough PG coverage on an HG site, then vote to bury. If you havent... then dont. The choice is the communities.

I just checked back into this thread after ignoring it for awhile. I was wondering is someone had made any meaningful connection to the purpose of this BB, which is HG.

Nope - I vote to bury.

I don't understand this "bury" mentality. If a thread is something that you don't want to read, don't click on it— but don't make it harder for those of us who find it interesting to read it.

one person can keep an unwanted thread on the front page indefinitely otherwise

this way the group can throw it off the front page

I didn't know you could do that.
