Today was my 6th solo flight and I was able to make it last about 40 minutes. I launched from Marshall (about 2300 feet above the LZ, I guess it was too windy for Crestline.) With no lift its about a 10 minute sled ride. Today was the most consistent day I have flown in. I wasn't able to get up real high, but I was able to keep up around 1200 or so feet for most of the flight.
Seems to me that these are the kinds of days that make it all worth it. All the hassle of storing and transporting a glider. Signing up for all the clubs and organizations. Setting up and breaking down. All that most definitely worth it for a flight like today. I wish I could go back out tomorrow. Might be able to on Tuesday though

Indeed those are the days that make it all worth it! I spend the winter getting pulled up by a scooter in less than stellar conditions. At times it does start to feel useless, but I just keep reminding how much fun it is when you get to 5K off of a 600' tow! WEEEEEEeeeeeeeee
Congrats man! |

Can't ..... contain .... the seething... jealousy.... AAAAHGGGH!!
But seriously, good job man. I aspire to fly for 40 minutes. Maybe one of these days. You have my permission to refer to those of us with shorter flights as "bitches" until midnight tonight. |

na not "bitches" just Hang Glider pilots too foolish to NOT live in Southern California.
It was mostly luck that I was able to fly that long anyway. I was following a much more experienced pilot with a vario and he kept showing me where the thermals were. Plus the conditions were great and the thermals seemed to stay in a couple of spots. _________________ -Dave

ehh, I flew over 2 hours, as did about 15 other pilots this weekend. One pilot cheated and stayed above the rest of us and pimped our thermals four 5 hours.
(I'm not jealous of California conditions, just California flying sites! )
Best part about this weekend was spending quality time with my dad at 5300' |

nice, chassan! I've flown on the same day as my brother but not been in the air at the same time.
Dave, great flight! Wow, 40 minutes on one of your first ten flights! That's crazy good, especially after 5 o'clock. You are a natural and I'm going to be looking above me for you often and soon. |
