Ok, Ann here it is,,,,,we'll start with today....It was yet another awesome day for me here,,,wait lets start with yesterday....yesterday I had a couple mild stones ,,,first they layed me on a table on my side with a couple pound weights straped to my legs, between my legs was another table with about five inch legs on it ,, with the less resisance of the smooth tables , I can make both legs move oppisite of each other in the walking movements,,,then they took of the weights & put some thing like a skate board with lots of wheels that can spin all directions,,,, with this I can make my legs run fast !!!
Later I got to stand up for the first time,,at the paralell bars,,not walk just stand there about a minute,,,,it was a strange feeling,,,still can't feel the bottom of my feet.....But i felt great to be standing , nun the less....we also spent hours working my upper body,,do this also everyday,,, I will need more upper body strenth for getting in and out of the wheel chair to & from the bed...
After I returned to my room from therapy,,,I called the nurse to send someone to help me get from wheel chair to back in bed,,,,,normally has been taking two helpers,,,after 15 minutes I got tired of waiting & put all that they have been teaching me to use & did the whole thing myself !! Including bringing mylegs up into bed as well...They were surprized & not happy I did it with out at least someone there to watch......
Today I was strapped into a machine that helps support me to be in the standup possition ,,& i can then wheeel myself around standing up !!!! Then we played catch with a ball for awhile while I was in this ..then they gave me a wieghted bar & as they would through ballooons toward me i would bounce them back by hitting them with the weighted bar ....After I got back in my room today ,,I was able to get into bed all bymyself,,,this time with two helpeds watching,,,,oh ya I began today getting out of bed & into the wheelchair all bymyself with my helpeds watching !!!!
It's small things like this everyday that keep my sprits up...the doc gave me two years disabillity,,, but I don't plan on using all of that . _________________ ACP |

Glad to hear you are doin O.K. ( even if I don't know you in person). You may
want to avoid water after all that, but pool therapy may be a good idea.
Take care heal quick! |

yip you are going to be back soon and be your normal self, you are all ready doing things by yourself, without proper watch
actually i am glad you did what you are supposed to do and have the proper aid there with you Rotor
my son in law broke his back, he did what they told him, worked hard at his therapy and was back sooner then expected, he was worried he would not be able to compete in his skydiving contest, but got in the shape he needed, competed and won Gold !
please do what they tell you, remember you are not alone use all the help you can get on your way to recovery !
my son in law is stronger then he was before the accident, keep that great smile and high spirits Rotor and remember how much you are loved by us all on the org. _________________ Explore nature from the eyes of an Eagle |

Doug,
Why am I not surprised to hear you are breaking the rules there too!
I just read your posts and am so glad to hear the great news of the good steps you are making. I will forward this site to my daughter (who is studying to be a physical therepist) so she can follow along.
Your positive attitude and determination is still teaching me a thing or two even after you taught me to fly 12 years ago.
