Got my new Google Nexus S phone last week and have been playing with it and comparing to the iPhone 4.
All I can say is, apple is in big trouble. The highly competitive android phone market is blowing by them.
The screen on this thing is gorgeous. Ive never seen black so black. You can turn it all the way bright, and blacks are pitch black. It looks like youre staring at a glossy photograph instead of a video screen
With out of the box multitasking (iPhone cant do this, unreal), and improved UI, its really mind blowing what this thing does. All integrated with gmail, picasa and other google services. Apps tend to be more free than paid for.
Im still pissed at apples DRM. Ive suffered for weeks dealing with their stupid DRM crap and my old music. My girlfriend has 500 DRM apple songs, and just doesnt know what to do, aarrghh....
ITS IS NOT TRUE, that iTunes is now DRM free. Only some of their music is DRM free and you have to pay 30 cents per song to upgrade old songs to the DRM version *IF* that is even available, and IF you can figure out how to actually upgrade to the DRM version, they dont make it easy.
The google maps GPS navigation is awesome, and the GPS voice plays through the car stereo system via bluetooth. Of course you can play all your music through the stereo via bluetooth too. It pauses the song when you leave your car and unpauses when you come back. Its like having your personal radio station following you around
All the menus are app aware. So if you add a twitter app for example... and then take a picture, and hit the SHARE button, twitter instantly becomes a new option. On the iPhone you have to save the picture, then run another app, find the picture and then share it. LAAAAME.
There is no way apple will be able to compete with an entire free market of companies developing the android platform. Impossible. Android is gaining market share and improving at a far faster rate than apple is capable of.
Android + Amazon Mp3 store = bye bye control freak Apple Inc. You suck!
Your lunch just got eaten
I just installed a new music player because the built in one is pretty basic. This one actually scrolls and highlights the lyrics as the song plays
This phone rocks!!!! Fast as hell too.

I had an iPhone4 for 29 days and decided that my experience was unacceptable. Dropping calls all the time and having Steve Jobs tell me I was holding the phone wrong... I think not! So I traded it in for the Samsung Captivate and I have not looked back since. My only complaint is battery life, that and waiting for Froyo (Android OS 2.2) but that is more up to Samsung and AT&T then it is Google. I am interesed in getting a Nexus S because of the clean install of the Android OS and the direct updates from Google as the new OS are released. Sure beats the samsung and Att crap they load on the phones...
I have my phone rooted and have all sorts of great apps on there like tethering and other things that maybe even Att wouldn't appreciate but oh well, thanks Android! _________________ Blake Glazebrook

Yeah, the Google Nexus S comes with android 2.3 gingerbread installed.
Very nice having a vanilla OS installed instead of a "skinned/branded" OS.
The DroidX is an awesome phone too, but it will take them forever to upgrade to 2.3 gingerbread because they have to update their MotoBlur skin.
This is the phone google tests on, so updates are fast and you dont have to wait for a provider to catch up.
Its benchmark speed was 4X faster than the droid and all the other good android phones. Gingerbread SMOOOOKES.
Battery life is also superior to the iPhone. But these smartphones DO chew through batteries with use. I have an app that shows where battery power is used. 67% was the display. So I took the live wallpaper off and put a BLACK background in place. Seems to have helped. Oh, let me check. Yup, down to 24% now _________________

I've had my motorola droid for 1.5 years now and it is a good phone but I have had a few problems with it. I downloaded an app killer and it wiped my contacts list. To this day, if I load a new contact, it's anybody's guess if it will actually come up on the contact list and verizon won't do anything about it. The good news is that all of my contacts still come up on my text message list. I'm upgrading as soon as I can. Now that Verizon has the iphone, you can kiss ATT goodbye. _________________ Freedom 170 FR |

The deal breaker for me is the closed system Apple enforces. Its my phone I should be able to download apps and music from anywhere I choose. _________________ Jaime Perry

My Evo is great and while Android is better, marketing will keep Apple on top.
SG make sure you get Gaggle(flight recorder), GeoSMS, Radar now and Flashlight (the one that uses the leds from the camera flash)

Yeah, Steve Jobs elitist position on porn is pretty funny. If you want porn, get an android phone he says. Is he NOT aware that porn built the internet???
Porn is huuuuuuuge That statement alone must have driven millions to android over iphone
Apple constantly trying to tell me what I can have on MY phone is an absolute joke. Id tell Jobs where he can put his communist phone _________________

I'm sitting at the beach bar at my suite on Turks and Caicos raiding the new it wars on my iPad and enjoying the debate.
I have no real dog as I am slowly converting to apple from the pc world and have no dog in is race.
I own a basic iPad and love it's technology and user friendliness.
my cell phone is a blackberry storm 2 and it's works fine and most importantly it's free!!!!! Work pays for it
Even thou I make a living in internet marketing I am really a produccer and project creator/manager so the nits and ants don't tie me up.
I ask the question.... If you knew nothing about the technology which one would you adapt to the fastest? Now before you answer letme tell you about my experience getting my new maxima to recognize my blackberry via bluetooth.....!!!!! I have seen organs transplaneted quicker

Awesome! I cant wait for it to be available in Australia! hopefully just in time for when my contract runs out in a couple of months.
They only have a 16gig memory option from what I can tell? Another one of the things pissed me off about the apple phone, Or is there a micro SD slot somewhere? _________________ Spyder14 - WillsWing "Dune" (Falcon 4 195) Aus Dune tune version) |

There is no SD on this phone. 16gig is more than enough for me though.
I cant wait to see my upgrade options. I figure the next Nexus will be very near perfect. Take this model, increase the video and camera resolution add in more memory+SD card, and man... pretty close to perfect. _________________

Sometime last year, my brother made the assertion that by the end of 2010, I would have a smart phone. I laughed, and as of the end of 2010, he's wrong, but I suppose it will happen eventually. I'm still using the same phone that he has, a Samsung SCH-u410, although I dropped it on the pavement the other day and broke the display. Not too big a deal, as I had a spare, and once I activated it, I went onto ebay and bought four more spares (for about $50 total). I like this phone because it's really small, but I suppose at some point I'll have to face up to modern times... _________________ H4 + various skills (only foot-launch so far)
