I had this happen and it was everything I could do from keeping from going over. I tried grinding the nose and rotatin to no avail. you can not unhook or climb out of the harness. I was holding on for dear life. I was actually on a little hill with a drop off. OH I WAS FIGHTING>

Any thoughts? On how to get out of the predictment w/o help?

Lucky for me a hiker was hangin out and realized I was in trouble. He helped me but what if...

maybe we should open another thread . i thought i was pretty tough too with my nose into the ground but found that i was no match for for a 32 foot wing tail to the wind with its nose buried . the only way to get out of it is not doing it when no one is around . like you have a choice in the matter . i had to wait till someone came running to my rescue .

if you don't keep the nose centered and let it go onto one wing over you go. un hooking is not an option like you mentioned, open another thread Sky and see if anyone knows .

glad you were rescued , and unharmed , i was lucky also but i wasn't in the same perdidement you were in i would of just broke up my glider .

As long as we're reliving some of my better moments:

back in 04' - always had a hard time landing that glider. Haven't broken a DT since Smile

note the camera mount. I'll blame the poor flare timing on it...

Didn't break anything down in Canoa getting turtled. Let her go rather than fighting it. Didn't want to break anything down in South America. Had a downtube and a tip wand and nothing else for replacement parts.

Cheers,
OB

Have the replacement downtubes for the Aeros arrived yet, Jeff? Wink

A little WW fanboy humor there.

Hi jef. I saw your discus on your post.
If you compare discus and ww u2 what is the differences such as handling, turns, landing characteristics ?
I felt discus's roll response was little slow.
Thanks

Baris

Hey Baris,
Where are you living? I find the availability of Aeros parts in the US practically impossible. The pilot I sold the Discus to can't get a simple replacement part for his no matter who he calls.

The Discus and U2 are similar in performance. I don't remember if the Discus was stiff. I found the hardware on the Discus to be "unrefined" - the finish of the components and fit is more rudimentary compared to the U2 in my opinion.

I always had a hard time landing the Discus. I've broken 8 downtubes in 12 years and 1500 hours of flying - 6 were on the Discus within an 18 month stretch. I found the downtubes to be butter - they'd collapse on a landing where other DT's would hold together.

I'm admittedly biased. I dig the entire Wills Wing lineup. You can get thorough technical advice and quick replacement parts anywhere in the world.
Cheers,
OB
