Cal,

I'm guessing your messing with poor old Ryan. Mr. Green thumbsup But for those that don't know, that's little old (actually very young) Ryan himself. I saw a number of those scenes first hand myself - way back then.

This video is first hand proof that getting them young is certainly one way to go. Laughing Of course, momma Voight had to be willing to give the go ahead. thumbsup

I absolutely love the first half and already had it bookmarked. Ryan was such a cute baby, I'd have wanted to run up and pinch those little rosy cheeks. Many thanks to Paul and the others that shot the original footage for him to have know. He must be the same age as my kids.

My son was born in '82 and my daughter in '86 and as was the fashion back then with all of use late blooming hippies turned parents, we took our kids wherever we went. I got to take my son on one tandem, since quite a few of use had young kids, and one of the gang had a kid's harness for them. Nothing came from it, he barely remembers it , although he did become a pretty decent rock climber after all of our rock climbing trips together. On one of my last flights in '89 or so, I vividly remember my daughter, who was 3-4 at the time, running into the middle of the LZ on my final after somebody told her , "Look up in the sky, here comes your daddy"......and I almost wacked trying to avoid hitting her.

Those florescent pink running shorts strike a chord too. I must have had 2 pairs of those, and some even wilder full length Lycra print pants since that was the fashion in my sport climbing crowd when that exploded in the late '80's.

I busted my old stuff out a couple of years back at an Old Fart's climbing rendezvous. Do these make my thigh's look fat ? ("Village Idiot", Shelf Road, CO 5.11b)

Now I have 2 grand kids, 5 and 3, and would love to take them out to the field for a day to see Grandpa fly and maybe get them thinking about doing something besides playing video games Evil or Very Mad

i had the pleasure of meeting Paul ,(Ryans Dad) it was fun to watch them together , then when i saw the video it just gave me more respect for the relationship the two have . i could only imagine what it would be like to fly off into the skies with my son or daughter and see what great person and pilot they have become. Good work Paul !

uploaded to Vimeo, a little higher quality...

http://vimeo.com/5842662

I learned to rock climb at the Gunks in NY... lots of gnarly/sketchy trad routes... people still wear pants like that (proudly). Let's just say I didn't feel like I fit in when I was there Laughing

Des and I haven't climbed since we moved to UT... Cal, I didn't know you climb, too! We should go climb some time! thumbsup
