Another unusually satisfying flight with a lot of commentary and great scenery.
Please use the attached Google Earth file if you want a closer look at the route.
Enjoy!
Jonathan
Cautionary notes:
- The flying shown in this video derives from extensive local site knowledge and copious expereince pushing the X/C envelope on higher performance equipment.
- This is not intended to be instructional or set an example for less experienced pilots to follow.
- Please consult your USHPA certified instructor if you are interested in learning to fly X/C on any level of equipment.
- FAA sectional charts were carefully examined and all airspace restriction were faithfully observed.
- Landing was conducted in Class G airspace and all aircraft landing pattern restrictions were observed.
- The City of Redlands California municipal code was consulted and observed during landing.
- Airport flight service operators have been previously consulted for proper etiquette.
- FAR 103 and USHPA SOPs were observed and adhered to the greatest extent practicable.
- YMMV
I added a few more "disclaimers" for you Jonathan since you were lacking in that area...nice flight BTW!

- All applicable traffic laws were obeyed on the drive to AND from the flying site.
- Overly critical H5 rated pilots that might be a Regional Director and run their own flight school in Utah should not watch this video.
- A map of the entire state of California was thoroughly reviewed to find the most expeditious route to the flying site such to use less fuel and reduce the impact of my driving on global warming.
- Restaurants that serve only gluten-free menu items were researched for the healthiest meal after this flight.
- Coffee consumed by pilot was free-trade and not harvested by slave labor.
- Clothing worn by pilot was made in America to keep our economy strong.
- Beer consumed was hand-crafted by local micro-brew in support of small business in America.
- Why am I posting these dumb disclaimers? Who really cares?

Dude this video rocks. I have been flying Elsinore this summer and can finally appreciate the skill that it takes for you to do what you are doing. Its a challenging site, and to see you do what you are doing there inspires me to want to take my flying to the next level.

Thanks Stoubie! I learned this type of flying from Doggone Bill and a few others. I assume that John is still your instructor so talk to him when you get a chance too.
Here's another challenging Elsinore flight in case you haven't seen it. In this flight I had to turn around due to a mass skydiver jump at Perris just when things were getting good.
Wow1 Wow! Wow! That 2nd video that starts at Sartbucks is gorgeous! ....
That was a rare flight. Two friends of mine made the trip together a month ago while I was at Crestline and went OTB to Victorville.
I just did another 30 mile out and back flight at Elsinore along the Santa Ana Mtn range at very low altitude. I captured that flight in stills only too. It would be interesting to do a narrated slide show w/ animated tracks and see how fast I could edit everything together a tell a clear story. I get in all these nifty little adventures due to my flying style and philosophy that would be fun to share somehow. If I could come up with a better workflow it might help expedite the process.
One idea might be to do the animation first then narrate the entire flight based on that. Then if I add my image media over the tracks to show what it looked like from my vantage point it might maintain continuity while being visually and verbally interesting. Hmmmm.
I am a great believer in the micro-XC flight and adventure close to home. Hopefully, I can do some more interesting mini-XCs w/ my Falcon and report about these. I'm embarrassed to admit it but many PGs kick our collective asses so badly w/ their SoCal XC flying that it' hurts to even think about. The Falcon-type HG and cocoon harness is the best tool to even the score somehow.
