Ya outdid me!
Hey, did ya fall asleep? Didn't see any avoidance moves or preparation (such as a flare). Looked like it turned out OK though. Hope no damage to pilot. How'd the glider take it? _________________ U2 160 • Chattaroy, WA - USA
Those were some dirty trees and looked like no avoidance to me also. _________________ H-4 (1976) UP Saturn 147 & UP Axis 13

Been there did that, and don't ask how many times.
Same here Never head-on, but up in the canopy. _________________ H-4 (1976) UP Saturn 147 & UP Axis 13

Some where back in hang gliding 101 he missed the class about glide slope control!
meaning look for the spot you want to fly to and get that spot to stay at the same angle. THAT MEANS YOU ARE FLYING DOWN YOUR GLIDE SLOPE TO THE SPOT YOU HAVE CHOSEN.
I wonder when he realized he was in trouble? Looked like right up to the end he was high enough for a 180. Even if that was down-wind, he's got wheels.
I've seen this a lot, people get so locked into a plan that they don't see other options. I once saw a pilot flying over a large open grassy field purposefully fly into the tree line between that field and the designated LZ, because he could tell he wasn't going to make the LZ. He picked the biggest bushiest tree and did a nice flare right into it. The thought of landing in the other field, on the other side of the tree line, never occurred
LoL what the heck. I think he fell asleep... As a newb I feel like I could of had a better approach than that, at least he can live and learn. _________________ Dustin -
