#1 |
After some hops on the bunny hill and a few weeks of winch towing lessons spread across two seasons, we finally went to the mountains last week for our first high altitude flights.
Site is 'Col du Sapenay' near Aix les Bains in France.
I haven't landed yet.............. WOW!

Nice video. I think you should show a bit more enthusiasm when you fly.(' ')
I got a kick out of the music. In 1988 I was working for a seismic surveying company from Paris and ended up climbing the Col du Sapenay a few times(for work). As I was walking up a road (half way up the mountain) a hang glider pilot yelled a "salut" down at me. He might have been 50 feet above the trees. It was the first time I ever saw hang gliding in person. It took me 11 years to screw up my life and get into the sport. I think those songs were already past hits by then.(' ') Good stuff! |

| Nice! Another one flying Perfex. Could you please share some info about it? I would like a guesstimate about best sink rate and best gliding ratio, but other things as well. For example, did you fly with some paragliders around, to compare some caracteristics? I want to buy a Perfex, and hopefully I won't be dissapointed by comparing it in performance with my paraglider (over 9:1 gliding ratio). |

I was thinking about the best tune to acompany the shots of my first ever mountain launch and the big drumsolo from 'In the air tonight' sprung to mind. "I've been waiting for this moment, for all my life..." seemed kind of appropriate as well

Best glide ratio is on par with modern single surface gliders which I doubt is any more than 1:10. It does penetrate a lot better than most other single surface wings. This got me an extra ride when all others (and certainly all paragliders on the mountain) were packing up because they would have been blown away from launch. I haven't had time to analyse my flight logs yet so no info on sinkrates just now. |

Nice video. I liked the fist pumping and yelling near the begining. It's always good to see someone getting their first high altitude flights _________________ Paul H

Nice flight. Pretty scenery. Do it again. _________________ Mountains always have the right of way.

Nice video avdlingen! Really enjoyed it.
Man that first song from Phil Collins really brings back some old memories. One of the best artist ever.
Thanks for posting.
