Off the top of my head- posting on the basement board instead of on the HG general board (you know, some place people actually aren't looking for content). I don't consider that particularly smart- just considerate.

You'll have to talk to the owner of the site to get the rules changed. My understanding is you are correct that it is to keep spammers away and that is a good thing. That aside, it's obnoxious when new members repeatedly post asinine cr*p to circumvent the system. Especially when it's done in the main forum. It really doesn't take long through normal participation to accumulate a measly five posts and it's a shame that immediate gratification of your own petty personal needs is more important than being a member of the community. Actually, it's selfish and childish.

@Mavi - point taken! Wish I was aware before about the basement. How about having a sticky post with instructions for new members? Looking at older posts, it seems there are several new members like me.

Its usually better to not dignify comments like yours with a response. But silence would only encourage low-lifes like you.
