While the guys & gals have been skying out (climbing to 11,000 feet @ Tekoa, getting 3 hours @ Parker + just yesterday Mike & Jorge went out&back from Tekoa to Steptoe) I've been relegated to a weekday here and there after work due to a mountain of chores at home. My last time in the air was Tuesday, April 24th (tried since but winds didn't cooperate). Anywho, I did get 40 minutes in! This site, Inkler's Point, is new as of last year. It is fairly consistent if winds are forecast 9 S-SW or above - maybe a stretch on the "fairly" as we're still trying to make sense of some odd conditions in this valley. For this day it was gusting up to 30+ and dropping down under 20 while we were setting up. Then the wind went from S to W and W is pretty nasty for this launch. The wind speed also died down to 10 or so. I kept setting up hoping things would switch back to S-SW. It did and the speed settled out at 10 to 13-ish on launch. It stayed that way for the rest of the evening and I was able to get up. Not real exciting! But, if you've got 18 minutes to listen to Ravi Shankar and want to get to know Inkler's Point - this video is for you! Inkler's requires a site introduction by a member of Center Of Lift - our local USHPA chapter. It also requires waivers and USHPA membership + a call to the landowner whenever you're going to be flying = all very well worth the efforts. The video is also HD for taking in the view....

Very nice Steve ! You and Don are killing me, but what the heck. Someone has to do it.
Yeah, the valley is looking a little soggy. Is that from the spring runoff? _________________ H-4 (1976) UP Saturn 147 & UP Axis 13

Both spring runoff and record rains in March. It is pretty darn green around here! There will be a few of us flying Parker and other sites around Chewelah, WA over Memorial Day weekend. It would be a great time for you to visit. I'm hoping the higher roads will be open by then as we have a new place to try out - just need the road free of snow. GE placemarks attached for the new place: Eagle Mountain. Also attached is Jimmy's Launch at Parker Mtn. For some recent Parker vids check WonderBoy's YT channel: http://www.youtube.com/WonderBoyyyyy
Nice Steve! Aren't these longer days nice? Walt, come on down. We are finally getting good wx and having fun. It looks promising for this afternoon and a few of us are gonna go sit on the Hog Back. _________________ What a beautiful day! Let's go jump off a mountain!!!
Steve,
Have you flown Wrights mnt yet up there? KMOHROR
Yeah - right across the valley from both Inkler's Point and Parker Mtn. Haven't flown it yet this year though. Flew it 3-4 times last year. We're sorta working on a WSW launch off Wrights. A fire took out trees. All that is really needed now is to prune a bush or two. The SE launch is nice. A local para guy I've yet to meet weedwhacks the SE launch. The newest site (not yet flown - Eagle Mtn) also faces primarily SE. The prevailing winds in the Chewelah area are S-SW. We think we can make a W-NW launch on Parker (we have a SSE-SW and a SW-W launch now). I'm trying to nail down a NE facing 1200' ridge just W of Chewelah. With it we'll pretty much have all directions covered. The road up Inkler's is 5-6 minutes - up Parker is 10-15 & up Wrights is 30 minutes (gotta go one way to get another type road). Not sure what it'll take to get up Eagle yet. It is 2500' vertical. I hear the road is pretty good but - haven't been up it yet. I'm guessing it'll be 20-30 minutes. The landowners have been REALLY friendly. The "Yeah, go ahead and cut down a few trees!" type landowners. We have to keep up on where not to land due to crops but so far so good with finding an adequate place to call the day's LZ. _________________ U2 160 • Chattaroy, WA - USA
