#1 |
I have not seen a thread yet that talks about season goals. I know that different parts of the world have different times they call "in season" so I guess I will define it as May - October. What are your flying goals? What trips will you be taking? What sites will you fly? How far will you go? How long will you stay up?
I am sure everyone has one similar goal to fly safe, but what else do you want to get out of the next 6 months of flying? |

Stoubie, I like the idea of three hour thermals, then four, five and so on.
Flying multiple sites. Advancing into a higher performance wing. Understanding the dynamics and intricacies of air. Safe take offs and spot on landings. The excellent conversations. A car that gets 70mpg because I'm gonna be doing some serious driving. |

My goal this season, is to get the wings out of the garage and set them up, for a little airing-out time. That's about as far as I can forecast, for now.

In no particular order. By October I want to have accomplished the following:
1. Have a 3 hour flight.
2. Do a cross country run of 50 miles.
3. Accumulate 35 hours total flight time ( got 12 now)
4. Fly Big Sur
5. Fly Mingus
6. Fly POM
7. Climb 10,000 over.
8. Fly Idaho
9. Get 4 more people to fly our group.
10. Fly with 5 different people from this site. |

Here are some more goals that will make that transition a smooth one.
- You can no step land regularly, and when you don't it is not a whack, but a run out landing by choice.
- You regularly shoot your approach without stuffing the bar to elevator down.
- You have TUR, RLF, and FSL signoffs and solid experience with them.
- You have left your glider on the roof a few times, and shot the bull with the veterans while watching the windsock twitch.
My goal this season is to grow the sport. _________________ Real freedom lies in wildness, not in civilization.

Keeping it simple:
Fly as much as I can wherever/whenever I get the opportunity, for as long and as high, and as far as I can each time!

Good goals guys. We are starting to hunker down over here a bit with the weather turning. Lots you can do when not flying though; get the gear sorted, read up a bit, stay fit, snuggle up to the missus a bit more. Have a cracker season and fly well all. |
