Villa Grove, CO - Colorado Fly Week 2012 introduces the Rocky Mountain Airman's Rendezvous & The Mountain Flyer Championships

* June 30 - July 8, 2012 *

Make this a part of your summer western circuit. Compete for killer trophies and/or enjoy casual flying fun with big air or heavenly glass-offs, all along the 100+ mile long Sangre de Cristo mountain range boasting nine fourteeners and easy retrieves. Make your way back to the main LZ for cold beer, live music, food vendors, stage shows and banquet night with burlesque show on Saturday night (7/7). The Salida Circus will entertain the kiddos on Saturday, providing face painting, short shows, games and more. So pack up the whole family - plenty to do for everyone!

We know you can fly in the flatties, so come see if you can fly out and back, challenging small courses and a reason to make it home. You won't lose your girl you'll just lose your turn. Wink No other meet will have more beautiful women serving drinks, selling tees, caps and more. This is a fundraiser to save our road to launch, so come sky out and support our cause!
You will not want to miss this event!

A few Ellenville pilots have penciled it in on their calendars already. I told them to use ink.

For those of you that have never seen Villa Grove here is a video of a great glass off flight HangDiver and I had last May. Most of the video is looking up the Sangre De Cristo range to the north but at the 5:00 mark is a great view looking south.

Tiffany and Larry's house can be seen at the 7:50 mark near the upper left corner near where we landed.

Our club has a brief page on the site here:

The more early registrations the better the event planning can be.

Villa Grove is amazing, especially if you catch a glass off.

Larry and Tiff are outstandingly gracious hosts and it will be great!

The valley is huge and hanging out is very cool, but there is world class mountain biking, fly fishing, whitewater kayaking, hiking 30 mintues away along with great dining, art galleries, music, in case you are bringing non-flying family with you.

Best to just hang out at the Smith's, but there is plenty to do in the heart of rockies even if you don't fly. It is an amazing area.

Here is Fred's takeoff on a moderately strong day at launch

And here's a video of his landing! http://vimeo.com/4263103 Right behind the cameraman is the fire pit, cold beer, food and drinks!

Details and pre-registration here: http://rmhpa.org/messageboard/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4154

Sign up. It'll be the best hang gliding event of the year. Great camping, flying, hot springs, 4 wheeling, Great Sand Dunes, bat caves and more!

I plan on being there. Haven't flown Colorado except for Dinosaur. Looks like it might have some potential for an air junkie like me.

I might stay awhile and do it up right. Anybody interested in a road trip? PM me.

Who knows Colorado sites the best? I need info.

Here's a shot of Villa that my son took yesterday. This is only a small section of the Sange de Cristo range. It continues on a hundred miles into New Mexico.
