Life's goal is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body.
But rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out and broken, shouting
"Holy Crap, WHAT A RIDE !!"

hope to see videos of you flying it soon, we wanted to get Shadd in the sky with it, but could never get the right conditions, though unhappy that he needed to sell it, i am glad he was able to find a buyer and put it in good hands, as you know Shadd is an Awesome pilot and an awesome person
He would have smoked us all including Ryan, Ryan didn't think so, but we will never know now
i can't even imagine where Shadd would end up after a XC flight on that bird, with his Sport I heard on the radio 10,000 over the back 10,500 over the back, 12000 over the back 14000 over the back,
with the Mil it would be, over the back Wyoming, over the back Montana over the back Idaho, on my way back Utah poor driver ! _________________ Explore nature from the eyes of an Eagle
Your main ride is quite an impressive machine, Captain! Here to Tel Aviv, that's some serious XC miles! I hope you enjoy your Millenium. I see them flying occasionally at Funston and they look great! /jd
I regret to inform you that that glider is too out of date to be considered "fun" or "cool"
I volunteer to do you a favor and take it off your hands for a small fee
you are very welcome
She might be old and out dated but I think I'll keep her for a while Jason _________________ First Flight 1979 H4 , Cirrus 3, UP Mosquito, Delta Wing Streak, Moyes XS, Exxtacy 160, Rotor Vulto, MILLENNIUM #8

Yes it is, the yardage was 6699nm and took us 12:36:00, we took off at 11:15 PCT on the 15th and landed on the 16th @ 09:50LcL in the Viv
(just checked into the hotel) we had 67kts on the tail (yes even a 747 can fly down wind!!) burned 42,315gals @ $3.90gal (the fuel cost more than my salary)
I would like to take the Mill to the Fort one day as well. I have been watching Steve's videos and picking up on some of his finer points of
flying the Mill. He is quite the Pilot on that thing.

Becareful over there "BBJ Heavy", things are getting a little tense, at least so our news tells us.
When I was working in the south pacific, had some friends who flew for Flying Tigers.
They never went anywhere without taking their boards along. Always used the 747 to check out the surf on the outer reefs.
That was good fun. _________________ H-4 (1976) UP Saturn 147 & UP Axis 13

but how was the takeoff- i always wondered what it would be like to run while operating the stick
was it pretty straight forward to fly- any quirks/surprises....i seem to recall hearing they were very pitch sensitive _________________ TSA, DHS, NDAA and SOPA Seig Heil!

Jason,
The takeoff was straight forward......the winds where right around 18-20 at T/O and I only had to take about 4 - 5 steps. (To get to the lip) It tracks on T/O like it
is on rails so if you have the wings level at the start of your run it will hold the line. This is true on all rigids. I hand my hand at the base of
the stick so my run didn't add any unwanted control inputs.
It is Very sensitive in pitch and accelerates very quickly. Having flown Helicopters which are insanely sensitive, its not that bad. If you hold
the stick down low it is damped out some. It didn't take very long to get use to though. All in all it has a very solid feel on the controls. I
didn't notice any quirks that made me uncomfortable except the hammock and I know that was an operator issue.
Jason, you with your sail plane time would have a blast in the Millenium for sure. _________________ First Flight 1979 H4 , Cirrus 3, UP Mosquito, Delta Wing Streak, Moyes XS, Exxtacy 160, Rotor Vulto, MILLENNIUM #8

as far as I'm concerned- IT IS A SAILPLANE
i bet it would be a blast to fly _________________ TSA, DHS, NDAA and SOPA Seig Heil!
The difference being that it doesn't have 3-axis control, though, right? _________________ H4 + various skills (only foot-launch so far)

I haven't been up close to one in years- but i seem to recall it was stick and rudder....with a pull string on the left side that deflected both rudders out for glide slope control
essentially all the same controls you would find in a sailplane, 3 axis control with airbrakes _________________ TSA, DHS, NDAA and SOPA Seig Heil!
