Enjoy watching a pilot's first flights. Thanks!
Gotta say though - more speed on steeper launches is a good goal to run for - as well as keeping the best AoA you can muster throughout your launch. Once you begin launching in 10 mph winds and stronger you'll need to lean into things sooner and to keep your nose down longer. A stalled launch is just about the worst thing a beginning pilot (or any pilot for that matter) can do. Too slow on launch and you have less control when you need it the most. You look like you have a decent run and decent control of the wing during your runs - just needs more speed more quickly without letting your nose rise as your glider begins to carry itself. Walk, trot and run on a gentle slope can turn out just fine. On a steep slope one just does not have the time due to the shorter effective distance that you're on the ground.
Hope to see more videos from you in 2012! _________________ U2 160 • Chattaroy, WA - USA |
