My hang gliding back ground is one tandem 6 years ago.
So I rank below a newb so I could be way off the mark.
I have lived all my life Newcastle Australia so have watched the hang gliders since I was a kid. Want to get the licence next year.

My advice from an outsider looking in is as follows
Never state in forums or any where the sport is in decline it is at a new level.
The new level is due to increase in p/g pilots.
These statements made me think why is it in decline is more dangerous than P/G, now uncool or is P/G more fun ? So could put people of.

Probably combinationd of factors
After much reading seems P/g easer to learn at entry level.
New trend
Red bull x alps
Amount of young cool people on you tube doing first decents
Camping across mountain ranges
Cool vidieo etc

Hangliding footage is mostly older and not slick.

It has happened in other hobbies we should study them and look for favorable out comes most of all we sould evolve and not stagnate.
Surfing v body boards only a surfer know the feeling
Sking v snow boards
Wind surfing v kite surfing
Any thoughts

Hi Zaara.

Welcome to the org.

Why next year? Why not Now? Have you booked in with Tony yet?

Why put off until tomorrow that which can be done today?

Those of us who fly don't generally care how cool it is, or how cool paragliding is or isn't. It's not about us vs them, it's about flying, nada mas. If someone is put off taking up hang gliding because paragliding seems to be Cooler, then they are highly unlikely to be the kind of person who should or would hang glide, so none of it matters.

So, when am I going to see you at Merewether?

Dawson

I think the leg straps in Dave's new harness must be too tight.
