Doug,
We're all cheering for you, man ! Hang tough !
Sounds like we need Betty P (High Energy Sports) to make some decent (comfortable) harnesses for that treadmill.
I know you got cut and pierced, so this may be too soon, but when your skin is again all in one piece, try to find a P-T swimming pool. You can "walk" in this nice warm water, neck deep, chest deep, waist deep, and anything in between. They will have a helicopter rescue stretcher and a small crane, to get you in and out of the water, from your chair, without effort or discomfort. Or maybe a ramp with a waterproof chair.
Seen the pool trick work wonders; you use everything just like regular walking, at any level of strength that you have. Hope that helps.
Small steps add up to a journey.
All the best . . .

Wow Doug. I am soooooo happy to hear about your progress. It proves that we can do anything we set our intentions on and focus on. I look forward to seeing you when you get back to Modesto. Is there any timeframe on when that might be or what your next steps are? Anyway thinking about you every day. Sending good vibes and positive energy.

Thank you Doc,Carm, and every one,,I;m not real sure how much longer i get here, maybe about another week,or so ? ,another good day today and I got to go to starbucks with one of the theripist today about a half a mile away,,,getting pretty good with a wheel chair,,also a little better with the walker,,,,nice to be outside,,after theripy today there was a coupleof guys that came in and made plaster cast of my legs,,,pretty cool, they looked like that leg lamp on that movie chrismas story , thet are going to take them back to there business here in fresno and make leg braces , you know like the ones Forest Gump had until he ran out of them,,,they will be ready but the middle of next week,,,they should give me the stability to walk with better control with the walker and hopefully well enough that I will be able to get away from the walker and go to a cane? I need them becauce i dont have control of my feet , toes and ankles and I am constantly locking out my knees while useing the walker or parellel bars trying to keep stable,,,Really cant wait for the leg braces to come so I can see how much they will help me,,,after i can get to walking with them long enough they may help to stranckthen my legs and after awhile i may be able to get then down to just ankle braces? If my feet and ankles come back to life after the swelling go;s down on my spinalcord---could take a few months---then maybe I'll be able to run out of the braces alltogether like Forest Gump did!!!!!!!!!! I pray, hope, wish,,,,,,,,Still fighting the fight and still seeing daily improvements,,,thank you all for the support,,,,, _________________ ACP |

Hey Dude! sounds like things are progressing pretty damn good! your rate of recovery seams unbelievable! So what are the Dr's saying about the lack of feeling and control? What did they say about your spinal cord after the surgery?
Dude, I have rolled my ankle and been on crutches for 2 weeks, it was a month before I was back to walking normal and running was 6 weeks. the swelling was so freakin bad the skin looked like it was gonna bust.
Here you are almost a month to the day, from a far more serious injury and you CAN walk. are you still swollen and stuff?
and on a side note... therapists or nurses are taking you to Starbucks? You meeting future Mrs. Rotor in there?
Miss you at McClure man. It's just not the same without a GoPro in my face |

Hi Doug,
I was reading this Post about you, this morning. From haering about your progress, I hope you can come to my Fly inn at Mt Diablo in May. I also am recovering, Not as fast as you, seem to be on the mend. I proabally need to put more effort into my recovery. Speaking of that, I will atempt to walk one mile, I know 1 mile does not sound like much, but to me, it is really huge. Ok come back and fly Diablo, Kathleen, and I will drive for you. Also do not forget about my {Big Guy Fly Inn}, I am having it at Diablo again this year. I rhink I will have it in May. I have not picked the date yet, but I am it giving some thought. I am trying to avoid con flicks with other sites, having fly inns. Well even if you are not flying by then, come to the "Big Guy Fly inn." See you later.....Chris |

Thank you everyone,Dan tell christina hi for me and thanks for the well wishes..Thanks Bob, still getting better,,Big Guy I will email you again tonight, thank you brother, Robert,,the doc says that as the swelling continues to go down on my spinalcord I may or may not continue to get more feeling and control in all areas,,,,,,,it can take up to four months for the swelling on the cord to go back to normal?Still praying and hoping for more,,,every day though i am seeing a little something getting better each day,,,huge difference from the first week in here,,,i can now get in and out of bed to and from my wheel chair by myself,, i can now dress and spong bath myself,,even putting on my shoes and socks,,i can wipe my own ass !!!!! as for meeting hot chicks in here,, well they are here and very friendly,,,but its all business,,,i try not to get my mind there,,,,hoping to get that drive back someday but will all the pain my body is still going through,,,hopefully that is why i'll still pretty lifeless down there? As for today , i had a long day of theripy ad my mom, aunt jenny and cussin liz came to see me and watched the theripy for about an hour and a half before lunch break,,got some more better controlled walker time,,and that should get better when the new leg braces get here next tuesday,,,,its sounding like i will be going home not this coming weekend,,but the next after that,,,,next week they are having my mom come here for two or three days of training together with me before we go home,,,the hospital is giving her a free place to stay across the street fro here while shes here training with me,, _________________ ACP |
