Hey,

Just curious, how many of you Advanced/Master rated pilots fly a single surface glider as your primary glider? Let us know, with a picture, if possible.
Thanks!

Nice colors (yellow, red and white). Now you just need some more yellow accessories. thumbsup

What did you record the video with? The Drift HD 170?

I do not consider my SS my primary glider. Last it year it was. If I had not had the SS I probably would not had flown as much as I did. Which I feel I did not fly enough to say I am current. I still like flying my DS glider and I plan to fly a lot more this year.

Here is my Victoria Secret as named by Tall Chief Eves.

Happy Flying!!

Carm

That's a great picture of you on launch, John. Recent?

Tom, that's a sweet looking freedom. Nice to see another
one joining the flock. thumbsup

Carm, those colors seem to suit your personality. I'll bet it looks great in the air.
What's the Victoria's Secret connection, if I might ask?

Think: Victoria Secret lingerie but with a ‘see thru sail’. Since Tall Chief Eves named it I am stuck with it. Wink It did belong to my other half.

Personally I hate purple! Mad Now it seems I have two glider with purple in it. I did not choose the colors on either glider. I guess it serves me right. Laughing The good news if I keep losing weight then I can fly the LS 4 instead of the 5. That glider does not have purple in it. Oh and it will match my new jacket. Laughing

Recently I flew a F3 195 after six flights I sold it and connected with a Sport2 175.
In my opinion the Big Sport2 is a glorified Falcon with slightly more performance.
Got myself into situations with the F3 that I didn't care for. The Big Sport2 does not compare with it's smaller brethren. Unfortunately I'm heavy for the small one.
I definitely feel the Sport2 is an advantage without the nervous system being tested.

I'm not quite Advanced rated yet (close), but for about the past year my primary wing has been the Falcon pictured in my avatar, since I broke my Ultrasport a year and a half ago. My secondary wing (for the beach) is a Vision Mark IV, but I'll probably be getting another DS wing sometime this year.

your flying style is diving and go fast, can't imagine you on a slow glider Laughing

well I'm flying one on my avatar, but it's does not belong to me. So I guess when one is set up and the owner is saying "go ahead take it for a hop" I fly a single surface. Laughing

I did own a 220 dream, which was alot of fun to fly in light conditions, but was a beast to ground handle.
(I bought it to do tandems, but decided not to persue my tandem instructor rating....)

That being said IMO I think novice double surface gliders seem to work alittle better, and are just as much fun, and land almost as easily, Not to mention get a way better glide..... Wink

I still fly my Dream 220 on light wind days. It's so fun to land and fly in smooth ridge lift. Cool

Northwing Freedom Full-Race 190,

And what's really cool is that we race single-surface here in Texas!

Hey Bab,

The picture was taken in November. I've been too much of a choad scared to fly over the last month or so due to the cold. Tom and the Ellenville pack would think what we consider cold to be balmy! Maybe I'll drag the Freedom out in a few weeks.

John
