Think your tax rate is too high? I guess you don't make enough money:

So let me get this straight: the democrat party despite having a supermajority in congress and the whitehouse, did not pass healthcare all of last year out of fear that the republicans would get all the credit?

This is exactly why I try to avoid political discussions on this board. I made an exception with this because the issue is on both sides of the fence but I guess there are people out there that seem to feel the blame for everything is completely on one side. I just can't understand that line of thinking. In my opinion, it defies logic.

You have completely changed the subject and meaning of my (and skywalker's) statement in order to setup an ideological "win" here.... to win "points" toward the whole "my side is right" debate. A PERFECT example of BLIND partisanship that only servesd to prove my point. I'm not going to get involved in it. You are arguing with me over something I'm not even arguing!!!!! It goes nowhere. If you truly believe democrats are to blame for everything (or republicans for that matter), then I really don't know what to say.

MY point is that, with increasing regularity, republicans aren't willing to vote for anything a democrat positions, and democrats aren't willing to vote for anything a republican positions. That has absolutely nothing to do with what you just said.

To YOUR (completely different point), my understanding of it was that democrats were divided on the public option portion of the bill. Half wanted it, half didn't, and the issue was big enough to warrant not just bending over and saying, "yes president, whatever you say since you are the voice the party." I see that as a GOOD thing. It means the bill wasn't meant to pass as it was... it wasn't best for the country. A "victory" of having a bill initiated by the democrats pass would not be a victory for the country if it was just rammed through congress on ideological vision alone. We've all seen what happens when that approach is taken, or have you forgotten?

Anyway, I'm done with this thread. I have no desire defend myself against people who want to drag this out into an ideological fight by attacking statements that I didn't even make. I was hoping for reasonable conversation about the increasing partisanship occurring in this country (between the republicans and democrats) but apparently a number of people believe that isn't the case, and that THEIR party is always "right," the other always "wrong," and that's the end of it. Well good luck with that!

And thats is the rub BB. We start out in life. Some have a few advantages most average kids from average neighborhoods. At sometime between 14-40 we understand that you are what you make of you're self and start to plug into job/career...investments... maybe wife/kids maybe not etc.

Then some don't either make it or are unsatisfied with their plight and want what another guy has. And as they say ....there goes the neighborhood.

This isn't Hatti most (I didn't say all) have some shot at earning a decent living. Thats all you should get...a shot ...no guarantee because there are none, no hand outs, tax breaks, cash for clunkers etc. free health care.

Decide on what you want an go after it and go hard. There is this interesting book called Outliers and its written by Malcolm Gladwell. Throughout the publication, Gladwell refers to his theory of the "10,000-Hour Rule", claiming that the key to success in any field is, to work at it for 10,000 hours. In others words hard work over time.

There are exceptions of course but to us the 80/20 rule it is OUR reality.

You hit the nail on the head Dennis!!!!!! I started life's as a military brat of a NCO in the Air Force and we had nothing when I was a child growing up on one air base after another. I never went to college. I stared out as a breakfast cook at Sambo's (that will date me a little) I got married when I was 19 and the wife was 18 for 6 days ( no we had our first child 5yrs later) and we are still married today @ 32 yrs I worked 2 and 3 jobs over the yrs to get where I am today. Just before I got the Job that I have now I went 3 1/2yrs working 7 days a week 14hrs a day ( construction in Vegas WAS good 7 yrs ago ) I never once said I can't make it, but I was told all along the way that I didn't have a chance.
I just tried harder!!! Now I am a Captain on a Corporate Boeing Business Jet
doing international Ops for the Richest Casino owner in the world.

Me, a nobody from Montana who's parents just passed away this year from cancer with nothing in their pockets Why should I have to give up my hard fought for income to some one that just sits on their ass!! Can you say Flat Tax

I just heard a politician on a news program making an attempt to justify the Obama-care program. She made the comment that half of the program expense would come from taxes and the other half of the expense would come from savings in the government administration of the HC program.

Unfortuntely for them, I do not believe that big government can ever - EVER - EVER save a dime on anything. Big gov cost's more money.

There is no good compromise with the tax and spenders. The only way to fix this is to cut up the gov't credit card. Spend less money - not more. Then you don't have to make all the little peeps pay more taxes.

This is soooooo basic.

It has been mainly the Democrats who have encouraged the class warfare.

There referencing the Bush tax cuts as...."Tax cuts for the rich" for example. Such a lie, I and many people in middle class brackets have benefited from this tax cut. But the real negative aspect of this type of political speak is that people who seem to be doing well need to be punished and pay more. Now how does that motivate the people who are not doing well to work harder. Well it doesn't it basically says ....stay cool we will take their money and give it to you.

Obama uses that 95% figure and says we won't raise taxes on 95% of you. Well why did that 5% do that was sooo wrong to get punished?

Now all of this is nonsense in real policy because they need money and will raise everyones taxes somehow but to use class warfare is very bad a demotivating from a national perspective.
