Whats he complaining about he dosn't state the reason for the landing, he got of course, something went wrong, or was he just being a d***?

Someone needs to learn how to complain or present the whole story.

Confused

At least he didn't hit an RC plane or something. The guy writes like he knows exactly how long a HG can stay up. Right at 5 miles is pretty good for starters! big grin

He he, my longest XC is 5 miles Laughing
Took the day off work to join a couple fellow Ohio Flyers in a round of scooter tows. One guy with a Mosquito was going to tow us up and if we could stick, he'd come up to join us.
My instructor was first to stick, my first tow I almost stuck. I ended up having to take a handfull of tows to get up. Finally I found good lift to 3200 agl. The drift was moderate, but I found myself about 5 miles downwind. I decided to try to make it back to the field Shocked This was my first true test of finding best L/D and I failed miserably.
I lost 1500' and only made 1/4 mile worth of progress. Knowing the park to be as good as any place to land, I turned back and made a bee line for it.

Found out the other pilot landed before me, and the mosquito pilot lost his muffler bolts and had a very short flight.

They picked me up, we had a few beers, and I was glad I didn't go to work! Just wish I would have kept going downwind, instead of foolishly trying to get back! That is 3 XC ventures for me. (A total of 9 miles woohooo!)

I am going to work at it but for now... I'll keep to my 1 mile trecks!! The winter season is horrible unless we get some freaky weather to help us out.

Hutto you can always come north to scooter tow and get a ton of landing practice through the winter months. I do allot of quick tows to about 400' circle and land. depending on the amount of people that visit us I can easily get 4-6 tows an hour.>Smile
