You don't really need to torment them. What I've done is just get between them and the top of the ridge. Then, flying faster, I just kinda work my way out a bit. To give me room, they move out a bit themselves. Often there's even nice lift out there for them.
Mean while, I have a nice solid lift band to shoot around in. Every once in a while one will work back in towards the ridge and you have to kinda ease em back out again. Hey, nobody wants a collision, right? And you don't have to be mean about it. It's more like playing with a ouija board. When it's done right, nobody thinks anybody is pushing. A little hang glider hypnotism can be used to great effect! (?) _________________ WW 141 Fusion SP

The HG's position above all the paragliders looks 'right' by virtue of it's relatively streamline and cleaner shape, by the efficient and faster prone position of the pilot. Someone looking at this photo who doesn't fly may even see the distinction and make this link. A lone HG above the 17 PGs, a sky crowded with thick, cusp shaped PGs, each pilot sitting upright far below their canopy. It begs the question, if you have the choice, why? If someone hands me two sets of keys, one for a lamborghini and one for a toyota, I will always go for the lamborghini, and i will never understand why anyone, let alone the majority, would willingly chose inferior performance.
Getting higher, going further, flying faster, and generally trying to emulate bird flight is everyone's instinct and ultimate aim, right? _________________ A ship in harbour is safe. |

hey, I willingly choose lower performance, I fly a Falcon, or at most, my UltraSport 1 (original version). I doubt I'll ever get a T2 or similar. Would love to try an Atos someday, but they are too heavy. Ooh wait that's not what you meant.
About worst nightmare... Lon Chaney as the werewolf !!! I'd wake up in my dream and open my bedroom door. Looking down thwe stairs, the werewolf would run up the first couple steps and make menacing growling scary noises at me before he started up the stairs full blast.
Obviously I always ran in thick mud in my nightmares, couldn't get up to speed to save my life! (must be the damn sheets wrapped around my leg!) I'd wake up before he got me and then spend the next hour swearing not to ever sleep again. Then I'd fall back asleep, often slipping right back into the same nightmare.
Nightmares definitely SUCK !!! They feel/seem SO real and scare the sh!t out of you, even as adults. At least now I usually recognize I'm having a nightmare and I wake myself out of it before things get to freaky.
My wife has them about once a week, usually before I'm asleep, so I wake her up when I hear her breathing change a certain way. (fast & labored) I figure she's either having a wet dream, of which I'm likely NOT a part of, so I'm waking her a$$ up, or she's having a nightmare. She always SAYS it was a nightmare
It's funny when you ask someone what they were dreaming about right after they wake up and can still remember it. Often they are all over the place. The sequence of events makes no sense, there is no continuity etc, more like random sequences bundled together. EXCEPT FOR MY CHILDHOOD WEREWOLF NIGHTMARES. He's at the bottom of the stairs, I'm up the top. He snarls, scares me, then bolts after my a$$, where I either wake up right away or try and run in quicksand, getting NOWHERE, THEN wake up
Wait, that's not the type nightmare you were talking about? _________________ Ron, 42

It's all about instant gratification my friend.
Those (most) people don't want to put in the hard work to reap the higher reward.
They'd rather just get in the air immediately, performance and safety be damned. Hey, it's kind of flying.
What they don't even realize is that the "hard work" is actually incredibly fun!! _________________ H-3 FL CL AWCL FSL RLF TUR

back to the original question,i really don't have nightmares,i do have bad dreams,at times.I guess my worst dream is having my teeth busted out of my mouth, with a mouth like mine its a real possibility. The other bad dream is that someone is chasing me and catches me,i try to fight back but i only have the strength of a little kid(cant hardly lift my arm).I think the last dream is from moving to Texas when i was 12 and telling everyone i was from California, big mistake!.I had kids trying to kick my asss and kids kicking my ass for 3 years solid. The forth year was good because i got lucky when the school badass wanted a piece of me,well he got it.No i did not win,i got my ars kicked but i did fight the school bully and in texas the kid with the most marks on them were given 3 days suspension and the kid with less marks on them got 5 days suspension,i got 5 days. When i returned to school,i was the winner and that kept the rest of the wolves off me.Oh guess what,i got 4 months of bliss then we moved back to california with a southern draw"FUK!",so it began all over again,6 schools in all,i went to.No wonder i had dreams of people chasing me down and pummeling me.The old man always said"it builds character boy!".Fuk character!. |
