I remember that feeling very well, and happy to have you join us in the sky! Now the sled runs will piss you off even worse. But even on the sled runs, you can still learn about being sensitive to the bar, and "listening to your wing". No flight is wasted if you approach it with the right attitude. Next, 5000 and beyond! Wait 'til you hear the vario SHRIEK at you because the beeps are so close together, they blend, and you catch the monster! Enjoy! Joel

My log book reads:

12/11/89
Take Off Height- 90'
Duration- 10 min
Comments- First soaring flight, attempted top landing, landed in bush in gully.

18/11/89
Take Off Height- 90'
Duration- 13 min
Comments- Second soaring, top landing.

I was stoked with my first efforts, but there was certainly no 1 hr 53 min or 3868 ASL to boast about. thumbsup

Happy, happy, happy!!!!!!!! ( Then the devil chimes in)...How was your landing?

After all is said and done....If you didn't enjoy the ride? Then you just simply forgot to laugh!!!!!

Good on you pimp. Keep it up and keep it safe. I recommend an all rubber harness and glider for everyone.

p.s.Notice the cool paragliding pants?

SP,

Yer not doin' much wrong, if you keep going up ! Cool WAY to GO ! ! Cool

GREAT first thermal flight ! I like the camera view. You can learn a lot, from that video.

Little business: I would ditch that nose streamer, first thing, and make new nose streamers from the lightest knitting yarn, just as long, instead. You should have one on each nose wire, where you have only one now. That old thing is heavy enough to tell you lies. Lies can cause serious grief for you.

Watch the nose streamer in the video (not while flying, usually), and you can see some serious side-slipping, at times. These are times when you should add some pitch-up control, to max out the climb-rate, while holding the turn and bank that you have going. Looks pretty good, mostly, though. Cool

Pointer: Once you have a good handle on the fastest beeps for the day (and every day is different), when you hear the beeps approaching the max, CRANK it ! Lead with the feet, HARD, and crank into the first part of the first turn. Nobody initiates hard enough, when entering good lift, so they fly halfway out, before they get a turn going. If your timing is good, you are banked and cranked just as you hit the fastest beeps, the best lift. Once you are turning there, then you can flatten the turn out a bit, push out a bit, and circle the core, instead of having to go back and find it again. Watch the video and listen to the vario, and you will understand it better. Naturally, you can only fly "uninhibited" like this when there is no other traffic around, and you are high enough to get dumped out of a thermal without hitting the hill, or anybody else.
Like I said, GREAT first thermal flight. Go do it again ! thumbsup
I think you're getting the hang of this deal !
Mr. Green

Spoken like a true Sensi..............Up is down...and down is up!!!!!! If you don't understand this philosophy? Then you are upside down....when you are right side up.

If you ever end up left side down...Then you only have to find the right side of any equation!!!! Just don't push out!!!!! Unless the ground come up and smite theeee.

p. s. A huge thanks to noman and the MLSR crew. For watching out skypimp. Don't get so high....that u become an airhead.....Skill is defined as....control next to any solid object. Last I heard...the planet is a solid object.
