that reminds me of the Navy carrier landing expression "diving for the deck."
The Marina really helped me visualize landings at other sites, even Andy Jackson, because you have to adjust to different wind directions a lot and you have a landing zone that is not big, but not small, with nothing around it vertically to use as a reference for your height.
Last week I was coming into land at AJ and the windsock showed wind right of Devils Canyon, which I had never seen... I did an approach pretending I was at the Marina, in terms of height and the way I did a circular DBF and it worked like a charm. |

How's the flying there today? Sicko got called into work today so we had to blaze back to Vegas last night.
500 miles of driving for a ten minute sledder...
Oh well, seeing Wayne's whack made it all worthwhile. _________________ "A day without fun is a day that eats s***." HST |

Yeah I did. the Sailplane bowl is always a little better. But it's really tough trying to get back past the E. When you have a driver it's possible to ridge soar all the way to Temecula. My furthest flight in Santa Anas that way was Oceanside. When you get to the pass down there over th15fwy, it converges with the south wind coming up from San Diego. |

Kagel was a blast, and looks like we had the best day in the area...
I guess for you guys the trip was more about E than flying , really.
I couldn't help to think otherwise while following your decision making even
after learning about poor conditions at Elsinore.
I don't blame you though, just hope you had fun...

Maybe...
You can take the E-Teamer out of Elsinore, but you can never take Elsinore out of of an old E-Teamer.
It was great seeing the old reprobates again - plenty of laughter to go around.
And I got to meet Jason for the first time - great young man and a good pilot to boot. _________________ "A day without fun is a day that eats s***." HST |

even landing down wind, Radwhacker didn't live up to his name
I was highly disappointed, although Wayne did enough to make up for it _________________ TSA, DHS, NDAA and SOPA Seig Heil! |
